I'm so fricken pissed right now . So I bled the brakes in the GTI lastnight, thinking all will be well with it. I decide to take it into town to get some ice cream with the g/f and not 30 minutes into the drive she starts overheating. So here I am in the mall parking lot for 45 minutes since nobody in my town answers their cellphones. I limped it to a buddy's house and he got home as I was pulling in. Anybody familiar with VR6's? I'll probably post on the tex to but I think the waterpump is out. But the weird thing was, the aux water pump sounded extremely HORRIBLE after I shut the car down. And also after inspecting more at my friend's house there seemed to be coolant on the hood and around the airbox too. Could both waterpumps have went out at the same time? This car is the biggest money pit ever. It'll well over $600 in less than two months and I haven't even driven it more than 100 miles up here. :(

Well they kind of are go fast parts....kinda. The cooler the motor stays the less your hp gets robbed from the car. Sucks dude, but atleast the car runs.

Today, but I stopped. I got the pump in but I still need to do the crack pipe, thermostat, and thermostat housing. Gonna be a bitch. I'll probably finish it Monday night.

My vr leaks coolant. Almost half a gallon a week if I drive it alot. I have to replace all those elbows and it already has the crack pipe, yes my car has a crack problem, I would too if I spilled that much coolant :D

Hard to keep the car cool when it has a problem with it's crack pipe I guess. LOL
So is this a common issue with the VR6?

Well, I never had a single problem with my first VR6. It had 198k when I sold it and it's still going in indiana somewhere. I wouldn't stray if it's been taken care of. I just got one in a bad spot. It made the 1400 mile drive from Florida to here so I can't blame it on the guy that sold it.

There is bad apples everywhere. Just hope that you get the good one. Even a new car can go wrong.
