View Full Version : I can't get my hood shut.
You see, I was reaching for my smooth menthol flavored candy cigarette (it makes me look cool while still maintaining my ability to taste) and I hit something that opened the hood. If I push it down it wont stay down, I don't want to push it any harder because I fear it may bend. This has never happened to me, I've never touched the hood release in my life (as I'm guessing is the same with many of you). Does anybody know how to fix this? Volkswagen is telling me it'll be $300 and a couple weeks wait, can I just drive it like this until then?
On a positive note, my roof rack came in!

What you need to do is unify your hood. You need to rust the entire thing

Will chrome really do that? Would polishing be better?

i say duct tape it shut. you might as well line the duct tape with super glue for that extra holding strength. And it wont void your warranty:tu:

Everything should be right in line with the corrosion protection warranty. If your hood doesn't have enough rust, VW will be more than happy to put it there for you.... I believe it's in their "Drivers Gear" catalog as an additional add-on to make your VW experience more enjoyable as an "enthusiast".

Ok, update... I have been rubbing my hood down with a 1 grit, the auto store was closed so I just glued a rock to some cardboard. While I was doing this the hood shut! Will I have to do this each time the hood opens? Should I just keep the rock in the trunk?

I would definitely keep the new Tool in the trunk. Is it an official VW tool? If so, what is the tool number incase I need to pick one up? Is your vehicle at stock ride height? Do you think your surplus of wheelgap may have been a contributor to this problem?

This is a custom made tool, if you want one I can make another for you for $40 (PKG member price). Right now I have 2 inches of wheel tuck but my buddy says we can flatten the pan and cut a few things and I can go even further. He's really good with this stuff, he has a Golf with nos that does 198+mph.

Is he on the boards? What shot of Nos is he running? What size tires does he run to go 198+? I'd love more info on this

Recently bought a 1997 Jetta 172,000 2.0L. Passenger side door worked fine then one day i went to unlock it and pulled the lock cylinder out with the key. Door will not open from inside or outside handles. The electronic lock still goes up and down. I know its broken. I ordered a new handle and lock for the door but i need to know how to get it open so i can replace it!!!

His orders are probably so full already, kevin (bergshift) wouldnt get one for months.
It's just like that rock from Melrose Place where Kyle continues to abuse alcohol and prescription pills. After a vicious argument with Amanda regarding her baby obsession, he leaves for New York without sharing his plans. He scouts a hard rock band, whose manager holds wild parties in Kyle's suite and gets him hooked on drugs. When Amanda and Ryan come to Kyle's rescue, she sees women coming out of his room and assumes that he is cheating on her. She throws him out of the apartment. Lexi gives up on Peter after he wishes her well and urges her to move on with her life. She offers to make Megan a partner in her company if she can find Lexi the perfect mate. Jane and Michael call off the divorce, but face huge legal bills. A patient that Michael saved gives him a sports car and offers him an opportunity at a million-dollar investment (or so he says).
