You are going to want to tap into a vacume line someowhere before the air enters the throttle body. Check around for the gauge and controller. I have a Autometer boost gauge and I love it, the only company I have ever used for gauges after buying a few cheepo's that crapped out on me.

I have a tomei boost gauge (black face black housing) sitting around somewhere and a dual stage Dejon MBC that I have not installed on anything (been sitting in a box while I build a new CYL head for one of my projects) as for the plugs what are you aiming to accomplish? are there issues with the current plug? (i.e. running hot, pinging, missing etc?)...NGK is probably what a stock audi uses anyway since they are the largest supplier of OEM plugs in the world

HKS Iridium, Beru silverstone, Nology
as for the better then stock if it makes a spark (it being a spark plug and all) there is no need to change it. spark plugs need to be changed for heat range (hence the question about detonation/misfiring) but if you feel like spending unecessary money the three above should cost 3-5 times more than the stock plugs which will do a great job of lightening your wallet while simultaniously providing no performance advantage/improvement whatsoever

I added a boost gauge last summer after I chipped the 1.8t, to monitor boost levels and what not after I V-tuned it, and turned the boost up to about 115% percent. I went for the off-center pod, it sits on top of my steering column and the only things it blocks is a few rpms past my redline.
With a 1.8t I know you can tap the line from the DV (probably the safest) or you can go into the FPR line. The ideal location would be to drill into the Intake manifold with a dremel, but it requires more work.
Once you tap in with a T connector, you can stream it through the engine bay ( I zip tied it to a hose that led to the back of the bay). Their is a small plug on the firewall you can thread it through. You gauge should come with some simple instructions, but after that it's just some simple wiring. DO NOT START THE ENGINE UP WITH ANY OF THOSE HOSES NOT CONNECTED. It will throw off you vacuum pressure, among other things, and will stall out. If you need any help with the install I could help, or other people would probably do so as well.

You are exactly right with the plug info. All the years I raced my Honda I always stayed with NGK because that was what was oem on the car. I just changed the plugs for temp reasons. Just stick with oem plugs.

I just installed my boost gauge earlier this week. I tapped into the FPR line, heard that will give you the most accurate readings, other than the intake manifold of course. It sits on top of the steering column and matches my interior lighting really well. Picked it up at fixxtuning.com. If i recall they do have one for Audis that looks very cool, it replaces an entire vent. You will have to check it out. Supposed to color match pretty well too.
