On my old '99 Passat. Can you flash it or do you need to solder an upgrade?

It seems like APR and others always wanted to solder new EPROMs.

Does GIAC even carry the W8 program? I'll have to look at PassatWorld again but someone has one but doesn't advertise it. I'm not after power so much as trying to get rid of the drive-by-wire throttle delay.

I can bench flash the '99 and below is copied from www.giacusa.com web site.

I don't see a K04 file for the B5 A4 1.8T's Just 91-93 octane performance files. Of course this doesn't mean they don't. I see there is an Euro file listed. I will check with GIAC to see about your request.

I don't think I will be able to "see" what you currently have for a performance program. I will ask about this at the same time I contact them about your first question :)

What do you have for the 2.0T MKV? I honestly never payed attention to the GIAC stuff for the MKV. Everyone rants and raves about APR. What is the benefit of the GIAC?

its because chips dont do much for non turbo'd cars, theres not much power gained. i think on vortex they were talking about a chip for the new 2.5 rabbit and it only gave somethin like 10-15 hp? but cost almost the same versus the 40-50 gained on the 2.0t. just thought id give u a little heads up about it

It's a little harsher program, I believe ~0.2+ bar difference. Honestly I haven't heard many bad words about either GIAC or APR, I was simply going for GIAC because I liked dealing with AWEtuning and they sell that ECU. Both APR and GIAC have the extra programs you can buy, like 93oct, valet mode, etc.
