I got a new laptop...no laughing at the old dinosaur I used before. I also downloaded the new Beta version of Vag Com. Thanks to these two things I can Vag waaay faster now. Before, to scan my car took about 20 min. Now it takes about 2. Also, because the laptop has wireless ability I can download new updates for the vag on the fly. Basically from now on I will be more efficient at vaging your cars at the next get together. I will bring everything to the next GTG.

Are you talking about the old 9-pin serial (I have one of those)? I need to upgrade mine as it doesn't "talk" to our tt correctly. Ross_Tech said I need a new cable...

Best thing I ever bought for my B5 fleet....besides a low-rise floor jack.

my cable might be sold as of today...

Yes, it is a serial (DB9 - technical term) cable

Does CPU speed really matter in running Vag-com? I mean it has to wait for the computer's ECU response, and USB is less percise at that than serial would be. The latency there shouldn't have an effect on the CPU of the machine, unless you were running it on something like a 386...
