I'd read on passatworld about some of the guys installing jack pads on their B5. I wasn't too interested until we got the tt and it had them installed. I liked the way my low-rise floor jack worked with the tt's pads so i ordered them and installed them today on the W8.
Not too hard. I can see where some people might accidently install them in som of the other drain holes, etc. under there. Not advised unless you're trying to "Raise the floor" inside the cabin!
I think they ran about $40 bucks or so.

Can you post some pictures of these "pads" and also of them installed on your car? I'm still not entirely sure what exactly these things are from your post.

Here's a few different assortments of some that you can just put on a jack.. they'll just fit with your pinch seams.

Well, those are pads that actually fit onto the jack stands. I was under the impression that lreven actually installed these somewhere on the car.....

Hence why I said those are just ones you put on a jack :p can't beat that for how easy they're used and for ~$15.
Here's some of the ones you install on the car itself, this is on an Audi TT

Good stuff. Helps protect the rocker schultz under your ride from getting ripped and exposing bare metal.

I don't see why they wouldn't be universal.. as long as you're not getting pads like 5"+ diameter, then it could be hard to find a place where they'd fit.

Sorry about no pics. Wife and youngest have it in Europe.
I got them from Virtual World Parts. www.parts4vw.com

With shipping. $40.
I think they were over $55 at the local dealer.
I checked and what I installed on the Passat looks identical to what is installed on the tt. (Both are '04).
I suspect the are universal BUT, make sure you put them in the intended holes. I used a flat blade to pull out the plugs that hide the holes. If you check them when you pull the plug, you can tell that they are reinforced, etc.
I also used a golf ball and the jack to pop them in and then used the jack to force the middle thingie in which locks them in place.
Off to work!
