for those of you that weren't able to make it on this year's midcoast road rally, you really missed out!!! this was the most fun i've had in a long time, it was such a great day. luckily the weather cleared up and it was great for driving.

this year there were over 120 entires with such a wide variety of cars. the highlight for me hands down was the iowa speedway -- the staff was very generous and everyone got to make quite a few laps around the circut. i think i managed to get about 6 or 7 laps with my team and hit 110-115 a few times briefly. :tu:

the route was definitely challenging and it was fun watching all of these cars scattering in all different directions at different stops trying to locate hard-to-find roads. this was my first year on the rally and i'll be coming back again and again to do this every year, it was well worth it!!

we started at the west glenn town center in west des moines. main check points of the day were the new bass pro shop in altoona, iowa speedway, sandpiper recreation area (saylorville dam), hotel patee in perry, and finishing at the state fair grounds in des moines. all routes were on back country roads, many of them being hilly with some great turns -- many were also hard to find or unmarked making the the rally all the more challenging and fun. we covered just under 300 miles and with the spirited driving i even had to make a mad dash for fuel, and i know i wasn't the only one!

this poor M3 later in the afternoon got totaled after a crash after a speeding grand marquis tried to pass on the right when he was turning. :(

we were "limited" to 65mph but encouraged to keep up -- so i got a few runs in above 100 mph on the straights :drive:

thats most of the best that i have -- i'm sure others on here will have a lot more. it was just so much fun, i can't wait for next year's event either! almost every car that was there was unique in someway or another, it was great to see all of them together in one place racing to the same destination.

Thanks, by the way, for driving for me. I really wanted to get my car in that pic too, and I was amazed that the first 7 or 8 drivers I asked said they weren't comfortable with a manual! Then I pulled up alongside you guys...thanks for helping out!

yes manual's are the way to go I went over 2 years with an automatic until my new car and i realize why i was always so bored in my other cars over the past couple years I vow to always have a manual car the rest of my life auto's=BORING
