View Full Version : OEM Big brakes (TT + A8 rotors) installed!

Just got done installing it today. Probably took about an hour...

I used my stock calipers and pads and put the A8 rotors and TT carriers on.

Impressions:
- More pedal travel, but that could be because the rotors need to be seasoned to the pads.
- Since the pads are out farther (and have the same sweep area on the rotor) it bites harder under braking

Other than that I will probably give these a few hundred miles before I see what they're worth.

Cost for the carriers and hardware: $145
Cost for the rotors: $101

Not a bad upgrade for $246 - They really fill the rotor gap on my 16s nicely.

After about 40 miles of driving there's definitely more dip to the front under hard braking. That tells me theres more power there to stop the car.

Looks to be a great upgrade. You've got to love VAG for at least giving us upgraded parts we can swap on from other models. :tu:

What size are the rotors?

I think the rotors are 312x25mm (Audi A8 size)

Thanks for the kudos guys. I was worried they would rub on my winter rims (as you see there) but they're just fine.

Does anyone have stainless steel brake lines? I was thinking that would be a nice addition too.

does that mess w/ the anti-lock brakes at all?

It shouldn't mess with the ABS, but since my ABGS doesn't work anyway I can't tell for sure if it does.

It doesn't mess with the ABS. The A8 brake upgrade is pretty common, PureMS sells the kit as a "stage 1 kit" which I'll be doing somewhat soon also :tu:

That was shot in the parking lot of the old Ames middle school - on a rainy day last summer.

^ don't have those rims on rght now. They're at my dad's place in MN.
