I took this photo, the paint is a little dull. It's from salty air on the east coast, and probably acid rain.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y33/ilakskil/DSC_0021-1.jpg

I bought it for 4900 put about 3000 more into it and Im looking to get 4000 out of it.

So heres the story behind it, and I purchased it from a member on Vortex. I completly got screwed, so Im just looking to be fair, cause I dont want some one else to go through what I did.

I bought the car with 143k miles on it, and after 300 miles the engine threw a piston and blew, so I had to invest a 1200 bucks to put a newer VR6 engine in it. It has a 97 VR6 engine in it with only 71,000 miles on it.

After that happenned the AC compressor went out, so I dropped about another 700 bucks to replace that.

While it was at the dealership getting the AC Comressor replaced, the dumbasses didn't know how to lock the car and the cd deck was stolen. They said it was not their fault and we had to go through our insurance. Well, we didnt feel like puttting up a fight and just wanted to get the car home so we had them do a safety check and we drove it away.

Well later down the road, the rear left caliper fell off cause the bolt that held it on was loose. The dealership said that in their safety check it was such a minor detail that no mechanic would check it. So we couldnt do sh*t.

I just cant stand the car anymore. It drives fine, but I just dont like it anymore after all the grief it caused me.

So basically this car now has: a new engine, new rear brakes, a new AC compressor, and it runs great now after dropping a cool 3 grand extra into it.

I encourage any one interested in it to take it to a mechanic of their own choice to have it inspected. We've been taking it to the European Motors place on Center Point Rd. As far as we can tell, and as far as the mechanics from Euro Motors can tell, the car is running in great shape.

The body does need some work, which I was going to fix up myself but instead that money went into fixing the mechincal parts of the car.

Also the car has 16" BBS RXII's on it. They're sick nasty. They look brand new, and thats a good portion of the price we're asking for. Theyre the BBS models from VW too, so they run about 400 a piece brand new from what I can tell.

I hope to get some pictures up sometime, but the car is in Cedar Rapids, and I am in Ames. I'll prolly get pictures up around Thanksgiving time.

$4,000.
Engine has 72,000 miles on it.
After market exhaust, sounds awesome, nice and throaty, no ricey sound.
After market suspension, its lowered a bit.
Clutch is good, prolly about 60% of its life left.
Short Shifter
16" BBS RXII's wheels
I have receipts for everything too, so I can see what exactly the companies are for the after market parts, and so I can back up what Ive done to it to make it run like a new car.

My roomate took these next two pics. Theyre a bit small but if you click on them it takes you to a bigger pic and you can also see the other photos my friend took. Theyre not the greatest quality pics, so I didnt put them up, but you can see for yourself.

Heres the front end. Blacked out badge, and theres some chips and scrapes in the paint on the front end.

Heres a closer pic of one of the wheels. They all look like this, no wear on them at all.

Also I forgot to mention that the interior is flawless. Well except theres a chipped piece of dash from when the cd deck got stolen. But the seats and everything are in great condition.

I DONT have the money for that. I dont have ANY money. And theres this small thing called tuition. So I kinda need money for that. The 8 grand I put into this car was for tuition, so I need as much back as I can get. Putting a turbo on it would probably cause more trouble down the road. With me getting a new 07 rabbit, its reliable, at least for 5 years with a warranty and my mom will be paying for it until I get out of school. It might not be the fastest thing, but at least it will be fun to drive. So long as it's faster than my 95 Corolla DX. Im pretty sure that had a 1.8L Straight 4, thing was faaaaasssst. Oh, any word yet on a 5 speed short shifter for the MK 5s?

Im not sure if I want to sell just the rims. Maybe around $1000 and a good set of steelies to replace them. The wheels are a little dirty, but they dont have any scratches or marks in them. Theyre the VW factory ones, and they retail at around $435 a piece.

Ricky

yicks thats a lot more then i was looking to spend. but thanks for the replay anyhow.

CadburyRabbit
11-30-2006, 02:42 PM
Yea....I hate to sound cheap, but they arent the cheapest wheels. I want to keep them for my Rabbit, but the mounts are different and I think theyd look way too small on mk 5

one turbo, two turbos, three turbos........ good luck making one work right... i have yet seen one.. the whole idea is to get useable hp.. im not talking about dyno queens.. lets see it..

vr6 is a hard monster to tame...

Gee Tea Eye V

glenlloyd
12-23-2006, 05:12 PM
Well let's see now...if you took out the AC/Heater box and bumped the cowl back on the passenger side/center you could probably get them fitted into that space and although you wouldn't have AC anymore the turbos would generate some heat and you could just put a little blower fan in there to blow hot air into the passenger compartment....problem solved!:D

Yea me too. One thing is, my mom hasnt driven it much so it hasnt been around with its for sale sign. And in Cedar Rapids, you have a bunch of people that dont are about VWs. just pontiacs and ford probes.

CadburyRabbit

No longer for sale, at least for now. Looks like we're keeping it instead.

Interesting. What spawned that choice?

CadburyRabbit

The maxima is going to need some work too later on, and it still has payments. The GTI, while it may need a couple hundred every now and then to keep it going, at least there arent any payments to be made on it. And it would really hurt selling it and losing about 2-3 thousand invested in it. So then my mom would keep the GTI and the Jeep to have, then I'll have the rabbit, and once Im out of college Ill start making the payments.

Umm never mind I think this is back up for sale. I have been driving this car around for a while and its been driving fine. We actually found out that the struts aren't shot, its just that the douche that had it before me didnt put the stops on the suspension when he put it in, so you can bottom the tires out. GHEY!, but yea, I would really like to sell it for 4k, and if anyone that's interested in the Cedar Rapids area is more than welcome to test drive it.

If you need to sell it I can do it for you on ebay. I sold my Taurus SHO on ebay and it was a breeze - got what I wanted for a price too.

Hey this car is still for sale. Im not asking for 4000 anymore. Im fishing to get around 3,000 now.

The car's transmission is starting to go out. The ring and pinion fouled up and one of the teeth broke.

Looking for someone who is interested in doing theyre own work on the car.

The tranny is going to have to come out to work on it, but with that you can also replace the timing belts (which have about 20-30k left) and put a new clutch in (~30k left). With that done, I believe you could then resale the car for than you put into it with the parts, thing is I dont have the time or money to put into it.

Let me know if anyone is still interested. Its sitting at my house in Cedar Rapids, if anyone wants to take a look feel free to contact me.

Black86gti

I may be interested depending on how screwed the trans is.

CadburyRabbit
01-23-2008, 12:26 AM
It drives right now. You can hear a rough cyclical sound while deacclerating in gear. Its running, it drives, I just dont know how much longer until the tranny fully gives out.

Since you're in cedar rapids, you are more than welcome to stop by and take a look and we could even take it for a spin if youd want.

Once the tranny goes call me, I might be able to afford it then....lol.
