Hey I have a 2000 GTI GLX I'm looking at 18x8.5 r8 rims. I'm just wondering if A). they will fit (with or without adapters) and B). If I do need adapters what size can my car accept? I don't want to rub at all times a little is ok but constant would prob be bad. Thanks

I should also say the R8 rim is 5x112

You will need adapters. mk4 = 5x100.

What are the offsets of your current wheels and that of the R8 reps?

With the Wheel Offset Calculator (http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp) you will be able to determine if they will work. Keep in mind if you're running adapters, that will bump your offset up as well (i.e. more poke). The thinnest adapter I've heard of is 15mm.

BOL.

EDIT: I found a vendor on VWVortex that sells adapters at a decent price. You can find them here (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4313963).

Yeah with 20mm adapters you're gong to be dangerously flush or poking. You're basically taking wheels that are already a decent offset for what you're driving and spacing them out another 20mm. Usually doesn't work, but then again it might.

Need to know the offsets first off.

not sure which one I'm going for for sure but with the R8 one's I'll need the adapter. If anyone has an opinion feel free to say it.

Well the 2nd ones listed are avail in 5x100... that would save you $200-300 on adapters.

I think Cody wants to keep them now, at least through the summer. Unless of course he does have Santa Monicas to trade...? ;)

But if you are looking for RS4's, check out the classifieds on the Vortex. There's quite a few sets that pop up. I would honestly try to stick with your bolt pattern, because like Casey said, you're going to spend $200-$300 on top of what you're paying for the wheels. If you have the money that's fine, but then you have to worry about the offset and having too much. A 35mm offset with say a 15mm adapter will push your wheels to 20mm...and that's a lot of poke, probably too much.

If the offer is right I may still be entertaining a trade/sell the RS4's...

R8's look killer. Good luck with figuring out which to go with.
