so this weekend i was doin some detailing on the GTO -- and i had finally had enough of the ugly finish on my stock rims -- GM didn't clear coat them from the factory so a good majority of the paint was gone or tarnished.

so i decided to update its appearance a bit and get some dupli-color graphite paint -- didn't turn out too bad really

i shoulda taken more time and sanded them down a bit since they did orange peel in a few areas, but these wheel will be replaced hopefully this summer anyway so i'm not all that picky on them being flawless -- they're a big improvement of what they were. they have a nice metallic finish so in the sun they really have a nice shine to them.

later on maybe this month i may paint its calipers red if i can pony up the effort.

Not too bad TJ! About a 20 footer eh? Haha.

One thing though, please don't paint the calipers red.

I wouldn't paint them red. They will look good at first, but when they get dirty are you just gonna live with it or take the wheels off every time you wash the car? Too much work for me.

I am thinking of doing something similar......like a flat blackish.

i was originally going to go for black, but they didn't have any -- i'm glad i went with the graphite though, it provides just a little contrast that i like a lot.

Reminds me of my old DPE wheels... the right graphite color definitely works on a black car!

yeah i think it does too after seeing how these turned out -- future plans for wheels are both offered in graphite with the exception of one...

CSL replicas (hyper black or solid graphite)

VY HSV wheels:

VZ HSV wheels (silver only)

CSLs are the cheapest route...since shipping from Australia kills on the HSV wheels. but either way its prolly gonna be a bit before i get a new set.
