Ok its getting nice out and i thought i would host a GTG at place and will have the grill ready to BBQ.
We can work on cars, hang out or what ever. I have a couple of projekts to do to my car and the passat. I have room in the garage for two cars and can have a couple in the driveway as well.
Just ask you to bring some food items/drinks and let us know what you are bringing. I will have to beer and food.
Also have have plenty of tools, but doesnt hurt to bring some as well.
I will be out working on the bimmer around 10 so feel free to come over then or later..
Also we have a small fire pit in the back yard so if the weather is nice we can get that going.
I only have @8 chairs that will work so if u have any bring them along.
Address is 1160 W 8th Ave in Marion Cell 5587455

Awesome! If I have the motor by then we can throw it in the back of the van! It'd be a GTG to never forget! We'd have to video the trip b/c I know there would be some funny faces from the passer-bys. I have a huge 'Wide Load' magnet sign we can put on the car so that the cops don't pull us over. :D

HEH you think I'm joking. Well Sir I am not. You want that Beemer there I have a tow rope a Turbo Van that will pull it with no problems. I can get it there for you if your serious... cause I am. Let me know. ;)
BTW I can haul the engine for you too if you want. I just need to put down some blankets and cardboard so it won't stain the interior.

Don't doubt the mean mini, lord knows it has enough torque :D
Shannon- Do you have an engine hoist? I have the Bentley manual and enough amazing PkG'ers to get the job done I think!
I'm still searching for the right motor, so I'm not 100% I'll have it in time but I'll let you know. On the E46 Fanatics site there have been several members that say I can upgrade to a 3L engine and it will bolt right up which would give me an extra 40+ hp. I just have to send in the ECU to have it remapped to a 3L. I can't wait to tackle this project and get back on the road! :drive:

Our hoist is in Rockford, IL and i dont plan on getting there anytime soon. I am sure one can be rented for dirt cheap.
If we do this it will take a big chunk of the day. Looking at 6hr's or so. You will also need a clutch allignment tool and we will need to bleed the clutch slave cylinder as well.
Just let me know...

Shannon- I should of asked if it was ok to do this at your place. I was joking at first but all this talk makes it sound like it could actually happen! So I was told it would take 30hrs to swap a motor but you think it could be done in 6+ hours? Awesome! The motor is half torn apart already as you can see by the photo's below.
If Casey doesn't have a hoist, I can borrow one from my GF's dad but we may have to use the Rescue Van to bring it over. Also I was thinking for safety reasons that I would just have the bimmer flatbedded to the GTG instead of tow hooking it there. ;)

Well Me and my brother have swapped M52's in about 6hrs and that was a direct swap. Now if youa re going to do a different style motor then it will require more time. Who told you it would take 30hrs to swap an engine??
I could see it taking up to 10-12 at most.
Shoot at one of the races we swapped an engine in 2hrs on the APR's GTI.
I am not sure if i really want to mess with this at my place this weekend though..Was looking for more of little projekts. :)

The 30 comes from European Motors. Probably just another way to rip me off. As for the motor swap, I agree that it maybe a bit steep to try at a GTG. IT was a good thought at least. :D

Thanks!! I'll setup a specific Engine Swap GTG when the motor comes in. It'll most likely be at my GF's Dad's house in Robins since he has some tools and an engine hoist. Will keep everyone posted!
Well we better start the list of who is bringing what for food/drinks. I'll bring 2 bags of chips and a 12pk of Mt. Dew.
Shannon- What all do you need the team to bring? Do you need buns and condiments or just sides? Can't wait to see this new garage of yours. Does it have a bar in it and wired for speakers? It'll be nice to eat, relax, and b/s about cars!! :hungry:

You work for Darrah's? I don't think I caught your name when you came for the bimmer. Yeah after European Motor started working on it, they found that more then valves were broke so they told me I needed a new engine. They quoted me $7k for a new motor and labor! I called Darrah's again and had them tow itback b/c I didn't have that much cash. So I ordered a better motor for less money then they could find me and will have it put in cheaper myself.
