This whole thing started back in october. i have code P3081 illuminating my CEL. gas milage gets worse, basically not good. also, when i corner quickly, the car will loose all power. if i clutch in and floor it the engine will not even rev, just go to like 2000RPMs and backfire. its not good. also sometimes when i start it on a cold day the engine makes a clunky sounds and the revs jump from 300 to 3000 and down to 300 really sparadically. i always shut it off when this happens. the engine rarely ever heats up so im gonna say thermostat. the car usually works fine but i want the damn code cleared.
thanks in advance

I had to replace my thermastat...but I got no crazy revs or clunking...just a cel. I'm guessing theres more to it than just that.
Get that baby Vag'd!!! There are a few VAG-com owners here within the forum.

Replace your T-stat and your coolant temp sensor than report back. Your code might not have anything to do with this and your car needs to be diagnosed more.
Check for more codes there can be hiden codes where a regular scanner (Autozone) wont detect.

Strart the car and use a spray bottle and spray the coils. Its surges and you got your problem pack. IDK on this one but its what Ive been told. Or swap coils with a perfectly running VW till you find the bad one. (Time consuming)
