View Full Version : Alternator Pulley Removal Help?

Um so im getting Gtiup's unorthodox racing pulleys tonight and realized that i dont have the special tool to remove the alternator pulley. ive heard it pretty tough to get off...

could any one help me get it off? jordan?

All you need is a bolt to tighten into that threaded hole :tu:

EDIT: Copied from 'tex "M8x**x1.25 pitch bolt, where ** is the length in mm. My application needed a 40mm bolt, but it could be 40, 50 or 60mm bolt, get some of each, they were 75 cents a piece at Lowes... I couldnt find them at Home Depot."

I forgot to mention that you might want to clean out the threads and grease the bolt up since there will be a lot of tension on it.

I think when I did Anthony's I just used my Impact Gun and buzzed it right off. If you don't have an Impact handy you can always come over to my house and we can give it a try here.

EDIT: Shawn will be over doing his suspension swap at my house you might as well come over too and we can see what we can do to get those pullys off also.

Oh :s: I totally misread your question I thought you were trying to relieve the tensioner pully! Oh well the info is there if you need it. Maybe you will haha. GL with the install :tu:

is he coming over today or tomorrow? im picking the pulleys up today but i might stop by tomorrow for the install...he's doing a turbo swap today? either way ill call you later when i get the goods

He is coming over today (Feb. 18) I believe. Turbo swap was done yesterday so now he is doing suspension and the pullies at my place. Just give me a call and we can work things out then.

UPDATE

jordan and i put on two of the three on thursday. they have made a big diff after some spirited driving, best $80 ive spent on my car yet :tu:

jordan and anthony and shawn also didnt believe my alternator pulley was any different then their's, care to post the 10meg picture of F**Ked up VW alternator pulley Jordan?
