Ok on the passat the windows wont go down. I guess the back two and the passenger side front window wouldnt work and now the drivers side wont either. Fuse is good, when the switch is pushed to open you can hear a clicking sound and the same for using the closing portion as well. I dont it is the regulators as i cant seen all 4 going out at the same time. I think it is the lock switch.

Anyone have some ideas for me?

Thanks
Shannon

Take one of the door cards and check to see if it's getting power and or ground. If it's not getting one that should give you an idea. Did you wash the car recently? It could be a frozen window i had that happen a few times.

door cards?? Even if we did wash it recently it would be thawed out by now with the 50 degree temps we have had the past few days..

I might jump the regulator to see what happens in the next day when i have a few hours to kill..

Door panels, door cards what ever you call them lol You can try jumping it but it would be easier to see if it's getting power or the ground might be lost. I believe there is a relay for the wondows also something to check.

Use Linux n00b.

U talking to me???

Well the issue might be the comfort control module. Common issue on these cars. Spoke to a couple of my VW Techs in Alabama.

Yeah it was funny... like windows vs linux you know. Not really related to your car or anything. I guess it's not funny.

Carry on.

Do they not work from just the driver's switch or from both switches?

none of the switches.

I need to take the seat out and look at the control module. There is also a single wire or a factory cheap splice that could be causing the issue as well. According to my VW guys in AL. They also have a spare controller that i can have as well, if that is the issue.

I did notice the carpet is damp in front of the drivers seat and also found out from them that the battery compartment drain tubes will clog and cause water to come into the cabin..love it when they design the batter compartment with a box around it and hoping that a drain tube will work..

yep the comfort module is located under there i just fixed a passat not long ago where all the connections were green from moisture going to the ccm module.

x2...Passats are notorious for the sunroof drains becoming blocked. There was a recall on them, I'm not sure if the B5's (1998-2001) were under that recall or not.

the seal around the cabin filter leaks, but that is on the pass side. Trans controller is under the carpet on that side. Make sure to fix the cabin filter seal if it doesn't leak now it will in the future.

Probably sunroof tube on the drivers side. Make sure the connection cable to the CCM is nice and dry before hooking up the new unit.

FIXED!!!!

Issue was the main wire from the relay going to the windows..The Red/White wire was pretty much split in half at the connection point in the harness and while i was there found a couple of others as well. Now they are all spliced back up with shrink wrap, rubber electrical tape and normal electrical tape..Should happen again for a very very very long time..

TCM is on the pass side. CCM is on the drivers side.

I was saying that if your TCM isn't wet now it will be in the future if you don't fix the cabin filter seal. TCM is a lot more expensive than a CCM.

The damange was not caused by the seal or anyting else. Just from winter slush getting in the car from shoes...

All drain tubes and seals are fine..
