hey guys, i was wondering what u guys think about the forge space for on my car, it doesnt really do anything except give me a pssh noise from my turbo spooling and i was wonderin if u guys thought it would be a good idea or a bad idea

heres a link to a video that shows an exhaust im also very interested in so please let me know what u think about the sound of the exhaust too, thanks guys

if it costs more than $20 dollars why do it if it's over $100 you can put that to use on making the car faster

if the spacer is cheap and you like the sound, sure, but i'd probably pass on it for what it does.

the TT exhaust sounds good though. i'm assuming thats techtonics?

lol with the spacer, theres a 70 dollar version and an adjustable 150 dollar version

but yeah TT stand for techtonics, ive heard lots of good things about their stuff

$150?!?!!? what does it do besides make noise? is there an actual performance increase with it?

yeah, i've heard great things about techtonics too, just wasn't sure if that's what you meant by TT, lol.

yeah techtonics and their borla mufflers *drool* but the 150 one is adjustable so that u can set it to be softer or louder, the softer settings recirculate air to the turbo instead of blowing it all off. they say with the valve that even tho it doesnt provide any performance help that itl increase the life of ur turbo because of less strain

ahh, i see. well i guess it makes sense then.

i dunno i do need to save for the exhaust tho, its a little more expensive.... lol

yeah, i would wait and get the exhaust first. i think it would be more beneficial.

ive been debating a bunch of exhausts for a long time, so expect a post soone with a bunch of video links to help me decide lol

That is BS mate as long as there is a pop off valve of some sort you wont have compressor surge (even if it is recirced) which is one of the few things that can theoretically (although it depends a lot on the turbo) can injure a turbo...If you are worried about turbo life you would be better off putting in a turbo timer to make sure the oil in the turbo doesn't coke up on the bearings, or if you dont want to install one of those then be sure to let the car idle for at least a minute or two before you turn it off.

i read somewhere on vortex that the car already had one in it so it did it automatically ill see if i can find it later

on a side note i found a guy in phoenix that wants to help out and is looking for specifics, what should i tell him or do u want to talk to him??

have him contact aaron@full-race.com directly the initial manifold will be 1700-2400 unless we can get 10 or more confirmed orders then it should drop to about 1500 these manifolds can then be customized with any output flange and can be done for internally or externally gated turbos

Your cars dont surge on shifts or off throttle there is some type of bypass valve in there compressor surge is a VERY distinct sound

i havent heard any noises yet, i do know we have some kind of bypass valve

If it is rerouted into the intake you wont hear anything

the compressor surge is a stuttering noise my nissan does it because the bov is set too tight

hey since were on the topic of problems i have this smell comin from around my engine bay that smells almost like hot glue and some other people are having the same problem and theres a thread about it on vortex:

u have any idea what it might be? thanks man

I would guess it to be either the IC end tanks or engine cover but with so much plastic on the front it could be almost anything...as long as it isn't smoking or on fire I wouldn't worry about it

The GTI MKV has a electrical compressor or something that keeps oil flowing after shut off so you don't need to worry about a turbo timer. As for the noise....forget the spacer. Get the intake and it will be there. I love hearing the favtory diverter valve. It's loud. Anyway, I have narrowed my options for down pipes to AWE and APR. Thos etwo seem to be the best out there right now.

i do love the awe one, but i like the sound of that borla too, plus the TT one is cheaper, maybe awe downpipe to TT cat back!?

do the downpipes on the MKV use standard three bolt flanges or do they bolt directly to the turbo?

i think they connect right to the turbo but i dont know but heres a link to a guy that did a write up on a turbo back exhaust install, maybe u can tell better than me cause i dont know much about that section
