Hey guys...i need your help asap...i opened my passenger door on my b5 last night, and now it wont shut. Its like the mechanism inside where the door connects with door frame (like the latch i guess) is frozen open...but i let it sit in the sun all day today and it still wont latch shut. I have it jimmy rigged with a shoelace shut, but i dont know how long it will last! If any one can help me out...i will be forever in debt to you!!! PLEASE help! thanks all!!! i need to go to waterloo for the one g2g thing tomorrow...idk if any of your guys have heard of it....:D ....but i would like to drive my car!!!!!

if its frozen just put hot water on it... then make sure it drys

//edit i have a heatgun at the moment too. we can use it to thaw ur doors if u have a place for me to plus it in and still get close enoguh to ur hinger. and then u can lube it
//edit2 i looked on audizine for urproblem, seems a couple people have it but everyone is too lazy to find a solution

spray a ton of PB blaster into the mechanism

You might be able to fix it if the latch is just stuck in the up position. Usually a screw driver works to get it to come down...then you have to click it back up. Try the heat gun.....BUT BECAREFUL!!! You don't want to damage the car.

I grew up driving ****ty beaters.... this would constantly happen to me, i simply would get a screw driver and pop the latch back down, mike is on the ball.

Believe it or not we got a car in the other day with this issue. The customer was complaining saying that the remote start caused it that we installed. I was like "Right.....let me have my guy look at it first..."
It happens from time to time. Dirt gets built up in the mechanism or it just gets out of wack. You go to close the door and it hits juussst right to cause the thing to get out of adjustment. After you fix it, clean the mechanism out and lube it back up.
