well alot of things the engine makes a knocking noise from about 3000 to 4000 rpms kinda like valve chatter im not sure what it is. 115000 miles so im not sure when its due for a timing belt and if its an interference engine or not. a mechanic at a vw dealership told my gf (her car) that it was a loose intake valve but it was no big deal and he tighten it and it went a way for a while. but in my world a loose valve is a big deal so now i wondering if the the rocker arm isnt set at the right lash. so u see i hate this issue plus it gets horrible gas mileage cause i believe the rear oxygen sensor is bad just replaced front and i removed the cat resonator and chaged muffler. yes i know its bad to run no cat on obd2 but the rear sensor is in a spark plug non fouler which will make it think there is a cat. but i had horrible gas mileage before we removed the cat so i believe now its just rear oxygen sensor since it got better after i took the cat out. but still horrible. but mainly id like to fix this stuff and start makin it faster prolly with do adjustable suspension over winter and pull the head have it gone through and ported then put head studs in for reliability and port and modify the intake manifold. should be some good gains

Well aren't I the popular one. :D As you can tell I'm the Saab guy. I don't know much about VW's but as long as I have a good manual or a DIY article I can most likely fix or help you fix stuff wrong on the VR6 whenever you find out whats wrong. I used to be a Hyundai Tech at Lujacks so I have most of the tools and stuff needed to rip apart a car. Just let me know if you need some help fixin the car and hopefully I will be able to help ya out man.

BTW: Welcome to PKG

I'm basically the only active Saab member on here. Cayson has a blue Viggen and is in the QC but he isn't on here very much. Other then that I don't know of anyone else from the QC that has a Saab and is on here let alone another active Saab member on the entire forums. :dunno:

the chatter at about 3000-4000 rpm sounds to me like timing chains going bad

Sounds like the Jeep must have had the 318ci. (5.2L?) or the 4.7L. Sounds good and roasts the tires nicely. :tu:
