So, lastnight I decided to change my oil. While under the car, I took a look at my exhaust and said the hell with it and started to install my GHL 3" turbo back. I got everything up and hung. All the clamps are tight and my fricken downpipe is hitting my steering rack. Anyone have any experience with 1.8Ts? I am thinking it may be a bad tranny or motor mount. I was under the car for 5 hours and didn't feel like screwing around anymore lastnight. I need to get a creeper or something. Any thoughts?

Who'd you buy it from? I'd call them up and make sure you got the right exhaust.. catbacks are universal on the 1.8T as far as auto/manual but the downpipes are different. I've heard LOTS of times that downpipes are just a PITA to install but I've never done one on the 1.8T myself.

Well, it wasn't such a pain. I soaked the studs in PB for like 10 minutes and they backed out just fine. I had to end up sawzalling the stock exhaust after the cat to get it off. Then the O2 sensors just unplug and it slides right out. I bought the downpipe and catback seperate from sellers on the tex. I im'd the guy lastnight. If the mounts aren't bad, I will have to take it back off and beat it in a half inch where it's hitting.

I wouldn't be surprised if you got an auto downpipe.
Like Stefan said - exhaust systems are not universal between auto/manual. Its probably a DP for an auto. Thats my best guess.
sucks about this problem with your downpipe, man. hopefully you get it sorted out or are able to modify it to work for you.

Got it clearanced. I just took it back off and adjusted the rear hanger with a hose clamp and just tapped where it was hitting with a hammer. It just needed a little bit. She's clearing now and it sounds badass. I have the resonated and it sounds quiet at idle and low rpms but when you get on her she screams. :) Much improved boosting, to the effect of limp mode whenever I floor it. So, now I have troubleshoot that. I ordered a new N75K valve to try over my N75J valve.
