Saturday, May 19, 2007 will be our Tint & Tattoo GTG.

Tint Shop:

Prices:
- Jettas/A4s $175 (with 10% = $157.50)
- Golfs $155 (with 10% = $139.50)

R&T uses Suntec and Lumar tint film and the job is guaranteed for life. They are willing to close the shop down for us and give 10% off if we have at least 6 people.

If you can't make it on the 19th (but please try) you can go in earlier. Call 515-964-1580 and ask for Russ. Let him know you are with PKG and that you can't make it on May 19th. You should still be able to get the discount.

Yeah, we talked about you figureing it out. She has to have it so her smock covers it. She can't have any Tats visable at work. I just think that plain lettering looks well, ..plain. I don't know what she even wants it to say. She was walking around the kitchen while I was cooking, yes...I was cooking, and saying things like:
"Fig Newton....that sounds good"
"Oxy.....or bite me...or"

She was being a weirdo. She did say it would be cool for it to go downwards along the spine a bit...not real far. Maybe the letters could fade from Red at the top to black at the bottom. I don't know, it's her body.

It looks pretty dark with black interior... overall its perfect for me - I love it. Keeps the car noticably cooler in the summer and hasn't gotten me in too much trouble :D

well because I'm a stingy bastid I would need some estimates and sketches.
I would be looking at getting a single solid black star on the inside and outside of each foots' ankle. That would be one estimate and I am also debating getting a flame design up half of one leg. It would be a black outline with a little shading throughout. For this I would need an estimate as well as a personal sketch from the artist. Not that I don't trust the artist I just want to be sure he can draw dope flames before I get them permanent ya know!? Thanks!

Its $130 for all windows. You won't be able to touch the front windows if you want to stay legal, from the factory they sit at ~80% already. Honestly I don't like cars that darker back windows than the front. My thought is all or none.

the % is the ammount of light it lets in so like 80% lets 80% of the sunlight through ur windows so ur only getting 20% shading. where as 35% only lets in 35% of the sunlight :tu:

which film are they using?

Different film companies have different tint percentages. I wanted to get 30% but Llumar only had 15, 20 and 35 for the range I was interested in.

I've heard of guys getting 25%, 27%, 30%, etc etc but i dont know what film company provides those percentages.

that was after two busy ass days and it is only the two back 1/4 windows....the hardest two to tint. he also said he'd redo those two.
as for the rear i put it out in sun and the bubbles cook out . you have to remember that it was kind of chilly on friday and sat. i think it will be a little warmer on may 19th and all will go good.
i've seen alot of their tint jobs and they all look beyond great to me. :D
everyone is entittled to a goof once and awhile. if they do make a mistake and fix it i say great.

He said it just must have been an off day.... and i can live with that.
Also zeus' dog hair fouled it up more than once.
the two rear 1/4 windows will be redone.
life time on the tint job and on the film... so all in all i think Todd did good.:D

Can I get a response from people to see what theyre own troubles have been with the law regarding their own tint? Ive heard people who had 35% say they never got spotter for it, but then Ive heard other people that had less tint like 50% say theyve gotten pulled over for it.

Im not concerned with it being too dark for night, but would 30% all around be too noticable? Should I be like cad and get 35/20 or like 30/20, so the fronts dont look as dark by comparison? But I dont want too much of a staggered look where the back is noticable darker than the front.

What do u guys think?

If you don't want to be so dark all around, go the staggered route like Cadwiz. The setup he says looks great in person. You can tell they're slightly different in shades, but its not ridiculously noticeable like 20% and 50%.

Yeah the tint tickets might be an issue.. honestly the only reason I'm going 30% all around is because Arizona allows 33% and 30% will be arguable (I'll just tell them I got it done at 33, those light meters aren't always right on).

OK JUST SOME TIPS ......OUTSIDE CONTAMINATION IS A BIG FACTOR IN GETTING A GOOD TINT JOB. mY CAR HAD DOG HAIR ALL OVER THE BACK SO IT MADE IT EVEN TOUGHER TO TINT THEN NORMAL. TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF THE TINT JOB CLEAN THE INSIDE OF YOUR CARS. IT WILL MAKE A HUGE DIFF. IN HOW EASY YOUR TINT LAYS ETC.

So what would it cost to re-tint the windows. My car has an old tint and it's now getting purple, which I'm not a big fan of. What's the deal on taking the old tint off?

DIY...I took off the old tint on a car of mine with only a razor blade. Takes a bit of time, but couldn't beat the price. Plus it'll make the tint day go faster. Just be carful not to cut window defogger wire, if it's an issue. If I can do it anyone can.
