I'm reinstalling the lower timing belt sprocket to the crankshaft. There are two different torque specs listed in the bentley. one is listed as 6 sided bolt with washer @ 137 ft lb and the other is listed as hex head bolt @ 111ft lb. Most anywhere else I'd just tighten her down, but since it's connected to the crankshaft I don't want any risk. So, do I go with the low torque, the hight one, or just somewhere inbetween?

well does it have a washer or not, Well i'd torque it to 137 just to be safe. Also are you installing a new bolt, those are stretch bolts,( I just found that out) i'v never put a new one on.

This is for your GTI? If possible provide your engine code and I will look it up first thing in the morning and post back specs.

I didn't know that it was a stretch bolt. It's a 1.8 16v PL.

Stretch bolts must always be replaced, the torque on them is 66ft lb plus 1/2 turn. They are indentified by a 12 point head and no washer.
The 6 point and hex bolts (not sure what the difference is) are reusable and the torque is what was discussed earlier.
