thanks man. i was just mentioning to my wife that this board is basically made up of black VWs....lol.

in january i'll have about $500 to spend on the car, so i'm looking into some exterior/suspension mods to help cure the stock feel. ;)

i'm looking at the FK Konigsport kit. adjustable height and dampening with stainless steel strut bodies to resist our nasty winters. plus that way i can be low in the summer and high in the winter. i guess i'll just have to wait and see what the car gods bring my way.

Nice A3

You should get yourself some side skirts, fog lights and replace that fender antenna with a roof mount!

Here's my old 94 Golf with skirts, fogs, GTI grill and lamps and roof mount antenna...helps the 4 door out a little.

instead of moving the antenna to a roof mount, i think i'd rather just shave the hole completely and mount the antenna in the rain tray for a smoother look. i'm passing on fogs just because its cheaper not to have them. i DO want some side skirts though. if you ever come across a set in all of your findings, please let me know. :D

And for the record.. coilovers > anything else

yeah, they are really nice, they're just so blasted expensive....i won't really have made up my mind on what i'm buying (cup kit vs. coilovers) until probably 5 minutes before i start punching in the order, lol.

I'd like to see the rain tray antenna mount, that might be a nice option since I'm really not fond of cutting into a top. There's an OE cap you can buy for the antenna hole, it came on some Canadian models that had radio delete. The part number is 1H0 853 169. The only reason I ever got fogs was because I found a cheap set in Waterloo and was able to buy the wiring with them.

I do have an extra set of A3 skirts here, one side is missing the rear end cap but otherwise complete. I never really thought about selling them because the shipping is so high and anyone on Vortex who wants them wants them shipped. The front caps are somewhere....but where that is I can't recall at the moment. I haven't decided whether I like the A3 wheel opening trims yet.

i've read about the antenna delete cap. that's what i would probably run until i could get the hole in the fender shaved.

as far as the skirts go, how much would you want for them? even if they're not entirely complete, i can always go buy the extra parts from the dealer. let me know when you get the chance. that would be really good for me since you're local and i wouldn't have to pay shipping. :D

Me too, even in the junker Golf I park away from the crowd, but then when I come back something's next to me, often too close. There can be no one else in that parking lot and they park next to you!

Last summer I walked out at Greys Lake at night, couple loops around the track since I don't run anymore. I always parked at the extreme far end of the lot...never failed, someone parked next to me. And I was driving a white RX-7 that I'd been trying to protect because it was for sale.

I found the front trim caps...by accident actually, they were in a box of parts for the 86 and I was digging around trying to find a relay bridge.

Anyway, you will need to purchase a quantity of lower mounting clips for these, they push into the square holes in the underside rocker flange...you can see the holes if you look. The bottom edge of the skirt has holes for screws. I don't happen to have any of the clips, in fact I had to order some when I installed skirts on the TDI. Additionally, you will need some double-sided adhesive for the upper mounting strip that the skirt fits into. These are the only things I think you will need. I need to check and see what I paid for them and then I'll get back to you.
