MKII Chassis ?'s

I am in the middle of repairing a severely rusted floor. I noticed that all the metal that is under the car just inside the rocker panels has rusted out. This is pictures of the driver's side

The frame rails them selves are in good shape, but since I am in there and have my welder handy I am wondering if there is anyway or any benefit to reinforcing the frame.
