Hey, i need some quick advice.
I'm helping a buddy out with his RB30DET hybrid engine. It's a Nissan Skyline motor for those that are wondering. It requires a 152 tooth timing belt. I've read that the Audi A4 and Passat 1.8L (1997-1998) timing belt is a close match.
Can anyone confirm this and/or give advice as to which brands are better for high performance engines? Not looking for the OEM timing belt here. What are the better higher quality options for timing belts.
Need to know ASAP please and thanks!

Tooth count may be the same, but I'd be a little concerned about tooth shape and pitch. :dunno:

I'm 100% serious.
I'm pretty much just asking which brand of timing belt is the "best" for high performance and big hp german cars.

Definitely agree with Kevin... I've never heard of switching brands from different car companies for TB's. Same tooth count does not mean it will be the same length.
If your goal is to bend valves - I can give you my stock TB off my 2.0T.

Huh prolly not recommended but could work i would compare with the orginal one , or least make sure the teeth match up, now for performance timing belts I'v never really heard of them, i'v always just used the Oriley's Gates I think those are very good quality belts

Crikey. Thanks for answering my question. The only real reason I asked was because I know on our Supras, we often run Greddy timing belts and I'm pretty sure Greddy doesn't do much for Euro applications. Well that is my assumption anyways.

I'm almost positive GReddy makes a timing belt for that motor

Wait, are you looking for a t-belt for the nissan or one for the Audi? I'm confused. If it's for the Audi then OEM or OEM replacement is more than enough quality for anything you can throw at it

Oh and one last thing. I'm almost positive I've used Mahle timing belts on my old cars (the A4 and the S4).... the S4 had nearly double the stock horsepower and i had ZERO problems with it
here's a link for some Greddy belts. I'm not sure if they make one for your so called "hybrid" motor or not (I'm not all the familiar with Nissan motors)

Thanks for the reply.
This is what I want to know:
I need an Audi A4 or Passat timing belt [regardless for what it is fore]. I need to know which brand is the best. If OEM is highest quality, then that's what I need to know.
Thanks.

Continental hands down. OEM supplier for VAG and others.
