So Jason and I had some fun today. We decided to tackle a new mod. The MKV trunk pop mod.
This was the guinne pig.

Here are the three parts needed for each side.

Rubber Grommet 9/32T H#881254
Washer 3/8 H#882051
Spring Help! 03084 (comes with two springs...you need the smaller spring in the package)
Just slide the clip up, remove the plastic socket from the strut, put the spring on the strut with the gromet attached to the spring, then slide the washer on, and then put everything back together. Takes 5min to do and should look like this.

Next you have to vag the car so that the middle button on the remote will actually pop the hatch. Module 46, byte 2 bit 3 has to be checked.....your done. 10 min total for a sweet mod.

I AM CONFUSED THOUGH, SINCE I DO NOT OWN A MK5. THE REPOTE DOES NOT POP OPEN THE HATCH OR THE SPRING JUST MAKES IT POP ALL THE WAY OPEN.
sOUNDS LIKE A GOOD CHEAP MOD THOUGH.

I'm guessing its alot like the MKIV hatches in that when you hit the open button on the remote all it does is unlock the hatch, you still have to grab the handle and pull up to actually unlatch/open the hatch.

yeah it works so that now when you press the unlock button on the remote the hatch actually pops all the way open. Here is a car that has the mod done to it

Don't you have torsion(spelling) bars on the Passat?

I believe the Passat and the Jetta both do.

I am going to do this to mine. Always thought that was dumb that they didn't do this at the factory any ways. Do you remember the coding ? I just got my vag-com for my MkV Gti and haven't had time to really explore all it can do.

no robs other than the shocks on my hatch are older and there for not as strong to really do the trick. But yes the washer trick helped.
