GOVAG and PKG are working on a GTG in Atlantic, IA... (half way inbetween Des Moines and Omaha) I know it's a little farther from IC and lootown but closer then Omaha!)

maybe just pick a few weekends in march or april and throw up a poll. that's seemed to work about the best for me with my old car club.

originally something closer... even if people dont want to drive their dubs we can arrange some car pool action. this way we can all meet eachother... but yes definitely in that time frame as well, we will be working towards meeting up every three months with them, or something to that tune

The Dec 5th original meet and greet will be in Omaha. Omaha is:
about two hours from des moines
about 3.5-4 hours from iowa city

however, the mid jan GTG that we are trying to work out will be in Atlantic. Atlantic is:
1 hour from Des Moines
2.5 - 3 hours from Iowa city

*These times are base on about 80mph on the interstate, if you drive like I think you do, you will beat these times:D

I think for the jan meet we should do it on a Sat or Sun and everyone could come down to Des Moines the night before to make the drive easier. We could go out in Des Moines then everyone could crash at my place or something and we could go to Atlantic the next day.

Since I bought my wife new tires for her Envoy and new snow outfits for my kids to go sledding out behinde our house in the golf course, I bet there will be no snow. I was looking forward to testing out the new envoy and it's four wheel drive. If it barely snows this year my VW will be thankfull.

I don't know how many of you have been to atlantic, but I have been there a bunch. The town is actually a few miles south of the interstate exit and there isn't shit near the interstate. The only thing in town basically is a new super walmart on the east end. I HIGHLY recommend that you all look a little further west on interstate to the Harlan/highway 59 exit where there is the big wings america truck stop that has a big parking lot and you can go inside and stuff. Just an idea....

right, and i just don't want them to be disappointed if they open up three hours early and there are only about 12 people spending $5 each.

12 x $5 = $60 and I'm sure their operating costs are higher than $20/hour.

I would be more than happy with Pizza Ranch, plus you said they have a big parking lot, which would be good for us.

as far as a meeting spot for the DSM gang, what about the Qwik Trip on the north side of I-80 just off the Merle Hay Rd exit? If you are going west on I-80 and take the exit for Merle Hay, you just take a right at the bottom and you're right there. It's right across the street from Jordan Motors and makes it easy for everybody to find and also get back onto the interstate.

well my car WAS nicely detailed untill the f*king road crews came out :mad:

they hardely ever plow anymore, they just put down sand and salt that just causes the snow to melt, the ICE over and just make one hell of a mess

its easier and more fun to drive in snow!

hey TJ, I saw a Passat just like yours tonight. I almost mistakened it for yours, but it had the NA spec headlights. it was the same color green with a kamei grill and it had some clean looking 5-spoke Borbet wheels on it.

i just got home about 15 minutes ago, via tow truck. the GTG was awesome, its just too bad my MK3 broke down on the way back. soon she'll be back on the road and stronger than ever. :D

the GOVAG guys were all really cool, and it was great to see all the local PKG guys again, especially Stephan, because he trekked all the way over to Atlantic from Cedar Falls, and is still heading back there tonight. he is definitely a trooper. :tu:
