Rally for Dyamond is a fundraiser rally being hosted by ProjektGerman for Dyamond Ott, a 13 year old girl from Ankeny with a severe liver disease.

Check out www.rallyfordyamond.com for more details.

I challenge everyone here to AT LEAST register at the $30 Sapphire level for this event before they purchase their next mod.

With all the money we spend on our cars its the least we could do for a local family who spends over $1,200 on medicine EVERY month to keep their daughter alive.

I hope that everyone in the club can step up and meet this challenge.

The registration form can be found on this page: http://www.rallyfordyamond.com/register.htm

Also, please download the following flyer and post it up wherever you can: http://www.rallyfordyamond.com/downloads/rally_flyer.pdf

:) Well said Adam, don't forget people that as well as counting yourself in to down load the entry form and send it in.We (SML,DSV,THE Boss,Blacktie++, The Otts and I) Have put a lot of time and effort into this it should be a great time.
And soon there will be a link for business donations (silent auction) so if you know of any business that would like to participate feel free to talk to them or pm the contact to TheBoss(shes organized). Hope to see every one there.

Oh every one that helped or is helping thank you i could not have done it with out you.:tu:

I am sooooo in!!! Did Adam contact the Jordan Creek Mall yet? I talked to the guy I work with who dates the lady in charge of events and community stuff for the Jordan Creek Complex. He said she would be happy to talk to you guys. I have had dealings with them before with our DB Drag contest and they are just great people to deal with. If someone would like to come in and talk to my GM I can set that up too. He likes to do stuff for people in situations like this. I am sure we could get him to do something in the form of a donation. Also, get me some fliers...I can put them in the bay and one up in the hub (our break room).

Ill have my rabbit by then so that would be cool. Im in so long as Im aviable that weekend. I still dont have concrete plans for this summer, I could end up in Cedar Rapids or out of state somewhere with an internship. Maybe if my mk3 gti vr6 is reliable by then I can drive it instead of my rabbit. Considering I still have the vr6 in june.

Has anyone talked to Jordan Motors? I know that the owners daughter handles this stuff usually. I used to have her number from when we were setting up the vendors for our event at work. Also, the manager of the Scion division at Toyota of DesMoines was our big sponsor and does all kinds of car events. I am sure he would be interested.

And the gentleman to talk to at Scion of Des Moines is Dan Corron.

That would be cool. I have to finish up the remodeling in our house this weekend. I have talked to the Jordan Creek rep a couple of times...she is the girlfriend of one of the guys I work with after all and he is the guy in charge of our events at work. I can probably take care of him tomorrow when him and I go to lunch, we always hit Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch before we have our meetings from 2-5pm. Three hours of meetings suck. I will just call her at some point, maybe send her a link to the rally info first and then do a follow up call. My GM is all for doing something to help this family out and has been trying to get our store involved in the community.

Yep, and I discussed it with the gentleman in charge of our events at work. He wants to know what we are looking for....I told him not actually sure, maybe a gift card to raffle..don't really know. I am not sure what you guys are looking for. I am used to calling up vendors and asking for them to give us give aways...t-shirts, whatever. I will see what kind of a donation the GM wants to do. Do we want to try and get product...no we can't have a big screen, or would you prefer some gift cards....maybe one large gift card?

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r3/cadwiz29/Rally%20for%20Dyamond/118-1896_IMG.jpg

With no bickering or fighting they came up with this trophey as the one they liked.

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r3/cadwiz29/Rally%20for%20Dyamond/118-1897_IMG.jpg

They picked this style with black tubes that say"2007" on them. The 2007 tubes can be seen in the next picture. These tropheys will be given to the 3 cars the girls like out of all the entries. and will vary insize for first second and third. The girls have grown up around cars all their lives(Dad Builds race cars) so they will be considering best exterior, interior etc.

This is David Ott with his Daughters.
the two plauqes sitting on the table are (Diamond shape) picked by Dyamond. Highest contribution from a company.
(Star shape) Picked by Dallas. Highest contribution by a person.

For anyone that hasn't signed up yet, shave $30, $50 or $75 off of your paycheck at the end of the month and get yourself signed up.

Also, even if you can't attend, you are entirely welcome to simply make a donation towards the cause.

This is an important event for us to support.

As some of you already know Dyamond's parents, David and Diane, came to our gtg last Saturday and I had a chance to talk with Diane a little about how Dyamond is doing. I thought I would take this time to update all of you on Dyamond's condition.

Dyamond has tested positive for Epstien Barr (which I understand is sort of like Mono for you or I). Positive Epstien Barr in an immune suppressant (someone who has a low immune system, which Dyamond has because of the anti rejection medications she takes because of her transplants) can lead to Post Transplant Lymphoproliferative Disease (this is tumors in the lymph node's).
Dyamond is being monitored closely to watch for any signs of these tumors. At the current time she is clean of tumors, but because of the chances her anti rejection medication dosage has been lowered (somehow this medicine is linked to the disease). With her med dosage being lowered her chances become higher for transplant rejection. So basically she is teetering on a thin line between the two extremes.

As always the family maintains a positive outlook on the situation, but of course the concerns and worries are there.

As was mentioned before the Ott family already pays out $1200 a month in co-pays for medication for Dyamond and could potentially wined up with a lot more financial burden if Dyamond's condition changes.

With this latest update I hope it will encourage all of you to not only get signed up for this rally but to register at the highest level (Dyamond $75). :tu:

Let's show this family the kind of people that belong to Projekt German. (kind, caring, giving) :tu: :tu:

So when we started this whole thing way back in January, one of our goals was to raise more money for the Ott family than a group out of Waterloo had raised last summer.:D

I would still very much like to reach that goal and I am sure that we have a VERY good chance as long as everyone signs up that has said they will.

The waterloo group raised over $1500.00 last year and so far we are at $225 plus the $100 donation from a company.

There is only a month left to register so let's get to it!!!:tu:

Would decals be better than magnets? They would probably be cheaper than magnets, less chance to scratch your car up, and I have heard magnets have a tendancy to leave the car around 70 mph....

http://www.rallyfordyamond.com/downloads/rally_flyer.pdf

Please download the PDF, print some out and post them up everywhere. It would even be easy to take one down to the local copier and have them printed up on bright colored paper in grayscale to save some cash.

Feel free to post the following image on other websites you frequent. Even if people can't participate in the rally they can still donate to the cause. :tu:

..just a thought that the entries might change as we travel.

Well, if we do the shoe polish thing for people that are registered, at least we can halfway monitor who is with us. If people want to leave early or join up later, that's fine with me. We just have to watch for new entrants and make sure they pay up when they join and get their numbered marked on their car.

We're getting some decent responses on Facebook. I just hope that people start registering or donating soon. :tu:

So how are we going to actually police the issue with people just tagging along and not paying?

I thought you guys had talked about shoe polish or something on one of the windows to keep track of who is registered?

If we notice someone is with us that hasn't paid why can't someone just confront them about it and get them to pay?

I have no problem doing that. And I am sure that Jen would be fine with addressing those issues as well.

:tu: :D Good call , i can see it now Jen,Steph & Lori monkey stomping someone for refusing to pay.
That vision in my head will make me laugh all day.:D

Will our shirts be sent out for the out of towners or just picked up the day of?

Shoe polish on the windows. We have a decent chunk of time at each stop and we'll just have to keep a running list of the cars and numbers assigned. If somebody spots a new car without a number, we hit them up for the registration fee.

Also, we are probably going to be having some bikes along with us on the rally, so we need some way to mark them too....

Do the shoe polish like they do at race events. One on the back window or front and one on a side window. Or we come up with somethingtotaly differant to tell because of the bikes. We could just get some circle stickers or something......hmm, let me think and do some idea checking.

The worst you can do is be registered and then not be able to make it. But if you get your form in by next Wednesday you will at least get a free rally shirt. :tu:
