I personally think center exit exhausts look like the automotive version of assholes, but that's just me. I say if you do it we should take bets on how many times you burn your shins when opening your hatch in the summer time :D
I think it looks good man. :tu: Go for it.

I got you started on it because we both have good tatse. It can be done but it is so much easier to explain in person. You need rear bumper, straight pipe, y pipe and two 3" tips. oh and someone skilled in exhaust.

Me either....probably the only thing stoping me from having a custom exhaust.
Magic Muffler in Ames does good work for exhaust. I've been there a couple times with different cars. :tu:

hmm maybe ill just buy a TT exhaust, i talked to a guy that really liked his
i dont know what to do!
buy the TT setup. that's what i want on my car... :tu:

TT is the cheapest with the single muffler at $1075, AWE at $1280, and Milltek at $1369(200 cell cat) or $1119(400 cell cat).

Get the TT and then get the rear exit with the custom work done.....should be pretty easy for a shop to do.

what u mean like a read exit with center exit? cause if so id get the awe downpipe and then just make a custom center exit cause the awe downpipe has a better rep on the power it makes

Well the TT single muffler style locates the muffler back where our factory resonator is located and eliminates anything where our factory muffler sits. If you use a style like that then you can have a shop make you a rear exit by having it come straight out the back as apposed to the driver side. They would simply modify the the very rear part of the pipes to make them straight.

hmmm but then id have to buy the exhaust and the rear valence. maybe ill just get the exhaust for now and later on down the road do center exit with it
^^ yes, just buy the TT for now.

I am at the stage where I am going to get the down pipe for now....maybe the turbo back if I can afford it. Then get the rest done. I still like the reiger rear with the quads...but I love the R32 too...I can't decide, so I will wait on that part. I want to do it right.

i dont like the reiger... only part of the kit i dont like is the rear... i havent seen many rears i do like tho

The quad is cool...almost as cool as the R32.

yeah unless it looks like this....

lol heres a good comment that came later in that thread...
one exhaust pipe per cylinder? BRILLIANT!

but i do like the quad, i just dont like the reiger rear... and not too many people make a nice single exit exaust
http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u295/VW-Vet/RearSmall.jpg
maybe if the tips were smaller and it was just dual pipes with the twin tips on each pipe. also, it would be better if it didn't have those dumb "DTM-style" turn ups. i HATE those on cars! :td:

The tips do not work on that car. The tips make the exhaust.....so many people mess that up.

u know what the sad part is, that guys said the exhaust is stock, he just modified it to be quad and put big tips on it
Loccusst
02-17-2007, 07:31 PM
No way that exhaust is stock. The stock has two pipes that come out of the muffler and come out of the notch on the driver side.....what an idiot. The modification to do that to the stock muffler would be insane and a waste of money.

ok so i was a little wrong, its even more ghetto than i was sayin. ull like this...
hehehe, the exhaust is totally stock. I researched rear aprons and didn't find any that I liked at all. I didn't want to change the exhaust for 2 reasons: I like the sound of it already, and the car is already overpowered for it's weight and no sense changing the exhaust profile for looks only. I installed new tips on the driver side on both pipes.....and did some torch and welder work on the right side. The tips are welded to the muffler...and blackened inside. You have to look real close with a flashlight to tell they're fake. But I got the look I wanted in the back.... That part was the hardest decision of the project because I really didn't want to muck with the exhaust and they don't make a rear apron with single exhaust output in this style from Rieger or I would have bought it.

old thread revival , I want to get a custom magnaflow set up on my mkv and was thinking of doing quads like this. I know a great muffler guy but he dose just magnaflow, I think. I was going to go ask him about a custom set up for my car in a few weeks after school got started and I had more time :D
oh yeah his shop is called Terry's auto and is over in windsor hieghts, If I get a custom set up it will be with him, oh yeah I don't like the center exhaust either, I agree with Gary it looks a little wierd.

Are you serious? someone actually took the time to fake an exhaust? thats just sad! i would live with just the one side rather than do that.

What do you mean fake the pic up above or another part of the thread? all the pipes are there, both tips are connected to the muffler
thats what is basically behind the bumper

He meant the post further up - not you 07...
I know Beckley Auto downtown has been great to us and quoted us pretty cheap to install a new TB exhaust. Might be worth checking with them for stuff too.
