Does a ram air type of intake have any benefit over a regular "filter on a stick" intake on a turbo car? I would think not, but I have been wrong before I guess....

jeff may disagree but i think its major advantage is more surface area for horsepower stickers

Am I reading correctly... $650!?!? Give that $ to me and I'll burn it for ya. My guess is it rivals with the Carbonio intake system for Audi's.. meaning you're paying for the looks and freeing up ~5hp max. The gains will be mediocre at best. IMO, be happy with your new intake, forget this ram air and put that $ towards exhaust.

totally agree with you... plus i just enjoy the look of stick filter

that thing is still a stick filter... its just inside a big heat resistent box... that they clam will completely block out engine heat which wont matter since the air will prolly heat up enough on the way to the turbo to not make as much of a difference, plus since its in an enclosed box that = less air to the filter... the price tage is for the box, its completely carbon fiber... retarded if u ask me but i dont know much just seems to defy common sense to me... oh and it takes up hella room if u wanna put anything else in ur engine bay

Let's see...um, yeah...big waste of money and space. You could buy a down pipe for that money.

Gruppe M is not your average tuning company...Intake wise they are the best of the best, highest flow, smoothest air tracts, fully 3d modeled...650 is cheap for one of thier intakes the one for my X from them was a bit more than that and the intake for the testarossa is over 2gs...I have one and the build quality is stupid good...plus they build parts for exotics...which is the pimp ish

I'm not denying they're a quality company, but..

$400 chip, ~43hp/50ftlb tq gain > $650 piece of carbon fiber directing air at a filter freeing up ~5hp on a hot engine

If performance is what you're going for, then take out your driverside headlight during a race :tu:

very true frankly on a turbo car cold air intakes do little to nothing anyway VWs also have the luxury of cheap chips as opposed to the other cars Gruppe M manufactures for...
