so i have a new light on my dash now, just came on yesterday and i'm a little confused as to why...
the little "air bag" light (just above the CEL) came on yesterday for no apparent reason when i started up the car. anyone have a clue as to why this might have come on? did i sit down into the car too hard or something? haha j/j
seriously though, what's going on w/ this light?

May just be a bad airbag sensor, :dunno:

As far as I know your airbags will not work when this light is on. Mine came on just after I purchased and I had to have the passenger airbag replaced.

Not necessarily, mine has been on for almost a year because there is some sensor having to do with the passenger seatbelt that has gone bad, all safety equipment works perfectly though. Its not worth my $50 to make it go away.

Just take it to a Mechanic and have them run a scan on it and see what is going on. Usually when the light comes on the system wont function.

So you have tested your air bag deployment to verify your statement? :hide:

No but I can temporarily fix the part of the seatbelt that is messed up (the part you buckle it into) and the light will go off for a week or so. Ive also consulted my mechanic on it, he said the same thing.

yeah....who needs airbags anyway? lol
i guess i'll have screwjacks find out whats going on...not on my immediate to-do list though.
can i have any mechanic check it out, or is it a dealership only BS sensor?

Have a mechanic scan it to see if there really is something wrong. Though it would be best to send it to the dealer, since usually its a problem with the electronics system.
