So the new MKV R32 was announced today and is being shown at the Chicago auto show. I personally wouldn't trade my MKIV R32 for it, but I suppose it will appeal to some people. I do like the gen 2 Haldex improvements, but other than that, I think everything about the new one is about half a step below the MKIV. Its heavier, its DSG only, its (in my opinion) uglier, and its not any more powerful.

Saw That Earlier, Was Going To Ask Your Opinion. Guess We Know.
I Really Don't Like The Body Styling Of The Mk 5 At All,sorry Adam ,jake, Loccust. I'll Stick To My Mk 4 Even If It Is A 2.slow:d

i don't like the fact that its DSG only, but it is a pretty slick car. i'll have to check it out up in Chicago this weekend. :germany:

Take plenty of pics DSV...when you think you have taken enough, take a bunch more.

So it appears that you can only get one in Deep Blue Pearl (same as mine), Tornado Red, United Grey, and Candy White. Looks like MSRP is around 33k. Seems like a pretty hefty premium over the GTI, for basically only adding a large V6 and AWD.

Figure the power gains people are getting out of the 2.0t motor and I would call the 250bhp meaningless. At least with the MKIV you got an independant rear suspension, AWD, the awesome seats, and the 3.2 v6 (much better than the 1.8t motor, 2.0t is a different story) which made the extra 8k-10k worth while, in this case, I don't see enough benefit. The only thing that I can see as being a whole lot better about the MKV R32 compared to the MKV GTI is the AWD system.... It looks as though it is even getting the same seats as the sport seats in the GTI.

like you said, it just doesn't seem like enough extras to justify the increase price. might as well just buy a GTI.

i used to not be as big of a fan on the mk5 body style but i love it now. i think with a new front end and a lower suspension the mk5 .:R32 could look pretty good

sign me up for the .:R36!

Don't like the chrome and the price is too much for what you get. I would love to have the AWD on my car. When it comes to R32 give me the MKIV.

The mkV R32 looks pretty slick - I like it.

I'm not gonna make assumptions before driving one, but 0-60 in only 6.4 is pretty sad. With DSG, AWD, and the 3.2 V6 I guess its on par - i'm sure it's pretty heavy as well.
I wish they would bring the built-up 220hp 2.0T over here. At least that way it would be more mod capable for us enthusiasts :D.

Overall I like it and I'm glad they are bringing it over!
