So I'm considering buying a 2000 VR6 and those of you familiar with the difference between the 99.5-2001 (I think) bumper style, the models after those years had a cut out for an exhaust on the rear valence. I was wondering if I could buy a rear valence for it from a 2002-2004 Jetta that has the bumper cut out for the exhaust and put it on the 2000 VR6 Jetta. I want it for an aftermarket exhaust and I don't like the ones with the downturned tips.

You can do that no problem. I did it on mine. I do have a gti though, but I know its the same bumper for both model years of jetta.

Nice, so it's just the rear valence or do I have to put the newer bumper on as well?

Just the valance.

x2, it's held in by clips that are very secure, but it can be done easily!! Kleiner might even have one laying around that he could sell you :tu:

Does a valence from a 1.8T fit the exhaust tips for a vr6 as well?

yes

Thanks, I figured they would. The whole exhaust system is probably similar except where it bolts onto the cat.
