my MIL is on and i have a code saying P1142 i looked it up and it said it could be the MAF, the accelerator pedal position sender, or the throttle valve

i have a 2000 vw jetta vr6 12v with 82000 miles

i need help on what i need to do or go about doing

ps. it has up and down acceleration like if i have the pedal at a constant pressure it goes up and down in speed

thanks

Think simple for now. Check for loose wires on the maf, vacuum leaks upstream from the maf, etc.

After that, clean throttle body with carb clean and rag, then if you still have no joy, clean the maf using a cleaner specifed for cleaning them.

Good luck.

:D

i did all the cleaning and a soon as i pulled it out of the shop the EPC MIL and ASR lights were on and the gas pedal i had pinned and it did not rev at all

i let it set for like 3 hours started it up and the ASR light was on and the reving worked fine sat there for 10 min and turned the car off then back on and all lights were off and the car has been running fine for the past few hours

i have no idea what the problem is but it seems to be intermidate

Sounds like electrical, def. does not sound like a vaccuum problem, but I'm no expert.

what is the sensor on the throttle body actually called its what sends the signal from the pedal to the throttle body because 12v vr6 doesnt have a cable

TPS. Throthle positioning sensor is what you should look at next

Take it to a shop dude. I'd give you a hand this weekend if you were local and I had time...

Well, slap it on Vag.com again and clear all the DTCs. If it's intermitten it will eventually resurface. If you seemed to fix it by jiggling **** around and spraying cleaner all over the place then just forget about it. That's what I would do. Forget about it until you have to
