it depends, usually not actually. revo has 3 stages, stage 1 is for plain stock. u get a great gain out of it better mangement etc, stage 2 is a 50 dollar upgrade which requires at least an intake and exhaust, stage 2 makes ur new performance mods to maximize their potential and work better together. stage 3 is like after u upgrade ur turbo/intercooler/etc and dont believe its been released yet for the mk5

Correct the straighter the path and larger the pipe (reletive to your turbo outlet diameter anyway) the more exaust velocity stays up which will increase flow through the turbo and keeps it from backing up personally I wouldn't buy an exaust for a turbo car it is a lot better to have one built or learn to weld and build it yourself plus it is a hell of a lot cheaper on your german rides anyway

it's not THAT hard. i was in the process of making a 3" mandrel bent exhaust for my '91 Mitsu GSX but then ended up selling before.. bought the mandrel bends from Summit ($~20/bend, two 45deg and one 90deg), an eBay muffler ($25), flex pipe section ($4), downpipe to turbo flange from DSM vendor ($10) and a local exhaust shop would weld/provide straight 3" tubing for under $75.

Sound is very important to me. With the wife riding in the car and taking some trips I don't want it to be loud on the interstate. Nothing sucks worse than a loud constant drone going down the interstate. I want it to sound mean when I am driving around town or get on it. 3" is about as big as you would want to go on our cars with this turbo. I don't know how to weld or I would probably make my own.....I am such a DIY'er it is sick.

at the moment it is a 3.25 02 housing on an FP Big t-28 hybrid exaust was picked up so I wouldnt have flow problems as I upgraded turbos it looks like a damn drain pipe under my car because of the flow on the back side compared to the small internal WG (havent added a flange for my 40mm tial WG yet) it boost creeps like a bastard but I am also trying to keep it at 7 psi when that turbo is not even optimal until 10-12 so I can start to get the maps tuned on the car before I dick with upping the boost pressure but with the added flow I have to admit boost response is much better

And about the chip.. DO IT. I think both GIAC/APR have free software upgrades for life, then if you need a different chip for a different setup they'll take your existing chip back and refund you $. I'm not sure GIAC makes a chip for your car.. either way if you wanna go to Chicago there's both APR and AWE (GIAC) dealers around there, I'd follow ya and chip my Audi too, I'm definitely going with GIAC though.

My springs showed up yesterday while I was watching the guy install my patio door. The UPS lady gave it to the guy doing the install. Now I am just waiting on my FSD Konigs....should be here Tuesday. LOL
