I haven't been able to find information on important service/maintenance procedures on my 2000 Audi S4. Does anyone on here know what i need to make sure i do as far as that goes?

at 122k miles i'm pretty sure i'm about due (or overdue) for a timing belt and/or water pump replacement.

anyone?

Check your owners manual first and foremost, but yes I think unless it's a timing chain waterpump/timing belt usually replaced every 80k miles

Well your timing belt/water pump is way past do, you should also do your PCV valve, clean your Throthle body and check things over. Im pretty sure by now your control arms are starting to go out along with your tie rod ends.

Maybe time to replace your cabin filter? Did you get any records of maintance done on your car? Maybe the timing belt was already done at 80k. Drive up to waterloo and have Kevin look things over and give you an idea what all you need.

Waterpump, thermostat (cannot be done unless the t-belt is off so why not do it at the same time), all idlers and pulleys, serp belt, t-belt and t-belt tensioner, cabin filter, check brake pads control arms cv boots and TRE's (replace if needed). I strongly recommend doing a brake fluid flush and also a powersteering fluid flush. I had to replace the rack in my S4 because the fluid supposedly was never changed and it cost me a cool 700 dollars just in parts. Just give the car to Kevin and have him give it a good look over.

I thought this might be useful for you. I would go off of the a4/I4 since it's a turbo motor and requires basically the same maintenance

^^^ Everything he said is what you NEED to get done, if your t belt is not done you are on borrowed time. for the t belt and goodies that go with that it will run you 1200ish(parts and labor) for changing it out. with everything else I would say you are getting closer to 2500 on the high side. or you could get your own kit at ecs tunning for 300ish and have a friend and a case of beer and get it done in a day. I would go with the second way, way, way cheaper and you learn alot. If you check out some of the other big audi forums like audizine or audiforums they have tons of write ups, or go here audidiy.com . hope this helps

so who's kevin? what's his sn? i need to have him look my car over.
I had the timing and serpentine belt replaced last week. so got that out of the way. ran me $680 w/ parts and labor at IDC. they do pretty good work.

I also just had the CV joints rebuilt. that was about $300 or maybe $500 (parts and labor) i can't remember.

I also replaced the Diverter Valves and TBB myself right when i got the car.

i don't really have a ton of time to do it myself, but that site was definitely really helpful. i might have to do a few of the simple ones.

just because i don't trust garages no matter who they are...i do want to have an unbiased expert, like Kevin, look over the car to see what he thinks the car needs right now and might need in the future. the trip to waterloo would be well worth it.

Kevin runs a VW/Audi Maintenance shop here in Waterloo. His sn is vwmeister.

He's pretty busy this spring and has a fishing trip coming up this weekend, shoot him a PM to get more details.
