You think the dishcarge pipe and whatever the other pipe is out that replaces the one to the intercooler are worth it? I found them on North American Motorsports site together shipped for free for about $460.

Well I decided to pick up the other pipe. Not the discharge pipe. So I will let you know when I get in installed on the car. I will get the discharge one later. Little money means one at a time.

you can buy pipe and couplers for signifigantly less and make your own but not bad for a prefabbed set if intercooler pipes

So I installed the throttle pipe and torque insert from nuespeed. They sent me a Nuespeed catalog on a cd in PDF. The torque insert is nice and I can tell a diff when I get on it. The throttle pipe was pain mostly because it didn't want to go onto the oem tubeing. Its a nice powder coated black and doesn't really have any bends to it at all or flatened areas like the oem pipe. Next will be the discharge pipe and a downpipe. Gotta save money during the holidays. I haven't exactly been a good boy so Santa won't give me what I want. lol

No the throttle pipe wouldn't be replaced. There is still a tube that goes from the throttle pipe to the intercooler. I don't have any pics of it during the install. When I get the discharge pipe and install it I will take pics of both. I would like to get this done before the snow hits since I don't like rolling around a slushy garage floor.

best bet on an IC is to get whatever you can fit behind the bumper in your car also with those spiffy grills we put on you could use a Nissan 300ZX TT sidemount it is thicker and larger than stock but will be far easier to fit...that or just start searching on ebay or other message boards...look for bar and plate style not tube and fin they have a much higher thermal effency...Izusu NPR delivery trucks have decent ones if you are going for a budget setup they work really well also hunt around on the japanese import boards for ARC or Spearco used ICs they manufacture the best cores on the market blitz and HKS are both decent as well...avoid greddy

I like the twintercooler idea myself. Because you still use the factory intercooler on this car which is, as far as I know not removable. Not sure on that though. It is built in to the raidiator piece and that is what I have heard all over the boards. Are you talking about replaceing the IC JJperf ? Or are you talking about adding an aditional IC? When I had my civic I was in the process of building a turbo setup. I had always heard that ARC was good. I still have my little intercooler I sourced from a 89 turbo probe when I got my turbo from the same car. It was so cute....about the size of a dictionary. lol

lol nice, but actually with all the aftermarket intercoolers so far for the MkV's u can leave the stock intercooler in there and just disconnect it. but the companies also say u can remove it but its a longer harder process but makes ur car lighter

this is the eip one for the mkIV their new ones might not have been released to public yet:
http://www.eiptuning.com/eip/intercoolersystems.html

this is the eurojet one, doesnt say much about it... ill try to find the vortex writeup about it when i get home:
https://www.shop.eurojetracing.com/displayProductDocument.hg?productId=4&categoryId=2

this is the forge "twintercooler" the only thing i dont like about using both is that it still uses the restrictive stock piping for the most part...:

hope that helps and thanks for takin a look

Best bet for flow is to bypass the factory IC because those pipes would defeat teh purpose of getting a high flow IC in the first place that EIP kit looks really good looking at the install pics you would need to remove the inner bumper to fit the big IC core either large or small though that is a nice ass piece

excellent, ive heard good things about those eip ic's too, thanks man!

The Neuspeed discharge pipe and throttle pipe I purchased actually get rid of the restricted factory stuff. So all I would need is to replace the factory IC. The EIP kit is for a 1.8 MK4...did they have one for the 2.0t? I didn't see it.

So I installed the discharge pipe and HOLY CRAP what a differance. The car spools faster and I can feel the car pull so much harder. The O ring was a bitch to get in place on the turbo outlet housing, but other than that it was easy. I took some pics and will post them later tomorrow some time.

I hate it when there are problems with the o ring

^^ LOL. Yeah the ring is supposed to magicaly stay in place on the turbo housing which sits at a downward angle... just enough to be a pain.

cool man.. glad it got done .. so whats next??? how about some 13" rotors?

Loccusst
12-18-2006, 12:38 PM
Downpipe or turbo back exhaust are next. The car has pretty beefy rotors to begin with. I think they are 14"rotors from the factory.
