the hard part about having it in july is that waterfest is in july as well
so if the 4th is on a weekend that would be out, then water fest weekend would prolly be out(at least for me) and then theres only 2 weekends left in july to choose from and it might be hard for some people who have to travel further if they go to waterfest then have to go to NE the next weekend or so
but other than that its a good idea and id support it but just thought id give u a heads up

In all honesty - you need to start small.
You and your friends need to check spark some interest in your local scene and join clubs closer by. GOVAG is in Omaha and is a great club to join and get involved with.
Your enthusiasm is great and is EXACTLY what we need in the midwest euro scene. A huge Auto-X GTG would be great but its hard to get a lot of people to drive so far for something so new.
Start something up in Omaha and I bet you'll get a lot more interest ;)

i think it would be good if did like a show and auto-x was there if u wanted or somethin, thats kinda how waterfest and treffen work. i agree with john that a show would prolly bring in more peeps. at treffen, the auto-x day was cool, but not many people came, the day of the show... tons of peeps were there :tu:

well it would be a show/ auto x and Lincoln is only 50 miles farther lol so its not like all the way... plus i don't have connections in Omaha. but i was considering making it even a 2 day thing. i know some of the Colorado guys are camping out. maybe that could be considered. right now just looking for ideas which im getting and love thanks guys!

That is basically how Treffen was set up, but there were far more people at the car show. One suggestion is that you ought to have something planned for Saturday night to keep people busy because the auto-x will probably only last from around 8am to 2pm. At Treffen they were supposed to have drags in the evening but they got rained out.
Have you ever participated in an auto-x before? Just curious. There are a lot of regulations and safety precautions that have to take place to run a well-handled SCCA auto-x event and you'll need a lot of staff support just to handle that. It may even be a good idea just to hold a one day car show for your first year and make sure you can put that on well. There were MAYBE 100 cars at the Treffen auto-x and probably 300+ at the car show. Just something to think about.

I know its a little more expensive, but maybe look into an actual track day. Everyone does auto-x and its cool and all, but a show with a real road course event would get me there much sooner than one with just an auto-x.
From what I understand Treffen started out as basically just a big GTG, without all the judging and stuff for the car show portion. I really like that idea as well, that way there is no drama over who came in what place at the car show and its just a bunch of friends hanging out.

ill be done pending my summer plans, and what they did at treffen was handed out slips and u voted for what car u liked best in each category than thats who won, but then u still run into some drama, cause friends vote for friends etc. just another idea for ya

12 cars expected from Colorado.... not as many as originally hoped but hey its more then none. now we all need to work together on getting all the locals here. and as a group we need to select a date in June. just one day for the first year and no auto x this year. this first year i wanna keep it easy! ill be getting trophies maybe up to you guys if we do rankings! any input from you guys is a blessing for me and jeff and the other people working on this!

Now's about the time you really need to get some stuff finalized as soon as possible. You're going to need a few months solid to just promote -meaning you need all of your stuff lined up so you can actually promote it - and the sooner you have things planned the better.
Your biggest focus should be on:
1. Date/Time. This needs finalized.
2. Venue. You need this lined up. Make sure there's room for the cars in the show area - and spectator parking available for people not entering the show - plus enough room for hanging out and sign up - vendors, etc.
3. Vendors. You need to get this set up as soon as you have the venue and any permits if needed. I would suggest something selling drinks. If you can get like a bottling or distribution to do it that'd be great. Any vendor you talk to for set up - also try to sell them the idea on sponsoring the event and putting money in to help. Be professional about it. And they may be interested in providing prizes as either raffle or what not.
- make sure to talk to dealers of vw stuffs. I know in Omaha there's Giac, APR, and Revo dealers and TT I think. That'd be a good start. These names associated with your event are going to give it credibility.
Once this stuff is set - you can start putting together advertising. You'll want a professional press kit that you can supply to all your local radio stations and tv stations. College radio stations are a good place too.

how are you not running this? god radio damn i never would have thought of that. thats a ballin idea but as for the finalization stuff.
june 15th 2008 pioneers park Lincoln Nebraska. just a show this year. no auto x hoping o get as many cars as possible. right now we have 6-8 from Lincoln 12 or so from Colorado, 2-3 from govag/pkg. lets boost these numbers and lets tell our BMW/BENZ/MINI/GERMAN MADE car friends!

so glad you found that. i posted it every regional forums in hopes that the few browsers would find it. like you thats awesome. theres way to many little sites for me to try to find and post in. so i just hit the ones i know and hope it spreads. anyone and everyone is welcome. and i nominate you leader of the metro dubs to get them all riled up to come down for dub center. im soo glad you found us! we need to just get this out to all the sites. i was the only person at DATR from Nebraska i didn't know anyone and had a blast still. met a ton of really kool people. so i think everyone should get a chance like that!

i was suprised to be the only car there with A*'s iw as the blue 04 jetta no font rub strip and i was riding high on 18" a8s and no drop kit!

yeah i remember your car now. but sadly we didn't talk. but the idea of turing that into a track would be a dream come true. once you drive around it a few times on sunday you will freak its like the most ideal VW/audi course in the entire world!

its not really that we couldn't do it more of would the park allow it. but hey if you can arrange that part it will be ballin! but i doubt the park will allow it because of the fact that people walking through the park could not know and get hit or something ya know!

Looks good. I'd suggest having someone go through the site and edit it for grammar, spelling, errors though. It's probably best to look as professional and polished as possible. I'd also look into purchasing www.dubcenter.com so you've got an easy to remember domain name. They're only about $8/yr.
Also, some graphics would help make the site a bit more snazzy looking. ;)

okay theres quite a few trophies left that needs sponsors. theyre only 40 bucks a class i think that PKG should atleast sponsor one! thats like 2 bucks a person in this thread alone! ik we can make it happen! check the site for available trophies!

Totally. I was also thinking as I was ordering a copy of Studded, we could have a couple to hand out as door prizes?
Mike (jettalvr41) are you taking $5 for parking or anything? That's what they did at Treffen, and when you pay to park, you got a ticket for a drawing for prizes...
And you're supposed to turn in your ticket if you want to win anything :laugh: (inside joke)

i am gonna get a hotel to try to discount for all the DC guys, if we stay at super 8 we can even get it on there sign out front, my boos also suggest that everyone bring a cot or sleeping bag and we clear out our entire shop and let people stay for 20 bux a night lol.
if we want to stay at the shop i need to know if not post up hotels you'd like me to talk to!
In the end it's probably better to find a hotel for everyone to crash at. That's what they did for Treffen and it was a blast. There were a million Dubs in the parking lot and a lot of people hung out outside at night and just chilled with the people from all over. :tu:

OOOk, as far as places to eat...there is LEE's Chicken like a block away....they do have BEER and a piano player. As far as bars and other resturants..we will hafta get on HWY 2...just a short gant away.
I could probly pack like 10-15 peeps into my brothers shop. Thats is you wanna bring a sleeping bag, but if a good group of us go....it could be some fun....drink drink.....

me and a few guys from Colorado are trying to start a new show here in Nebraska called dub center. small it will start but i want to expand it to be a super event. and i need your guy's input. okay were shooting for a auto x mid / late July of the 2008 year. so heres what i ask what weekend would work best for you. or if you have any ideas as to how you would like to change the event... feel free to let me know. i want to really get this thing going. i can get us a spot for the auto x in Lincoln if everyone agrees on doing it here. so give me any ideas, comments, concerns, or just anything. k i need you guys. im trying to get all the Colorado guys all the Nebraska/Iowa guys and all Kansas and mizziou guys. we need a east coast like event and what better place then the center of the us.

Well, I thought Casey and Abby had somthing figured out...but I dont think Casey is going now due to a wedding...sooo, im not sure.... all i know know is that it's a week away dude...a week.:scared:

Last I knew Abby had reserved a hotel room that would be able to accomodate multiple people, as it had 3-4 beds inside it (suite style room). Hopefully she'll chime in and spill some details.

I hope so too, Sarah and I are still planning on going.
I turned down a 6 day all expenses paid trip to arizona for this. So i hope there's somewhere to sleep!!
