Would love to see PKG people take an interest in this. It's cheap, fun, and a great way to learn a lot about you and your car. I only did three events last year and now am hooked. That and my license is on probation for a year so no more street crap for me.

I believe it is 30bux for non-members, they have loaner helmets if you don't have one, and you don't need anything special to enjoy this. A lot of people bring old beaters out and have a great time!

I used to do this quite frequently, even have my own helmet. It is fun, but they were gradually getting less organized at the events that I stopped going. It was taking to long to get started and so you would get about two to three turns on a course.....and the courses were not designed for the novice or gradual SCCA goer. I am not bashing on SCCA or legal racing in any way. The DMVR chapter are a good group of people who just let their personal conflicts effect the local events. They were having some pretty heated debates in their meetings and you could feel their off track issues at the events. I raced the DMVR SCCA events pretty heavily for about four years and loved it. SCCA events are a great way for you to learn what the car can do in a legal and pretty controlled environment. It's also a great way for a young driver to understand how a car is going to react when you push it too hard. If they are still making their courses like before, I would strongly suggest taking a pad of paper and pen with you when you walk the course. You will still need to memorize the course. Also, walk the course several times....thinking about how your specific car would take each turn.

I think they may have changed since when you had been going.

You now get 6 runs total and I don't think the courses are not bad at all. I usually walk it about 4 times and that makes me good to go. It's pretty well organized and generally starts right on time.

Looks like I will have to go to the ones after July as I will be out of the country until then.

Thanks for the post I was always wondering when and where their meets were exactly.

Awesome.

I made it to a few last year at the Greyhound Park and it was a good time!

Very laid back, relaxed and FUN.

The schedule looks a bit short this year - last year I believe they had 12 events?

Those that had the biggest issues have left and started a local region of NASA, another racing club similar to SCCA. As far as I know DMVR has been running great and smoothly.

I plan on becoming a member this year again finally after having a membership for like 4 yrs and only making 1-3 events per season. And this year I should be able to make more of them.

And now to figure out what class my car fits in. I think I might be beyond Street Stock.

I saw a couple VW's today. Several GTI/rabbits/golfs and one sweet jetta with OZ wheels with a PKG sticker.

Sorry I didn't get time to talk. Was damn busy.

Good to see VW's out not starting on fire. hahah, J/K.

Need to see more of you out there racing though!

A few from waterloo went down - Ron with his red Acura and Justin with his red mkII GTI.

I had plans to co-drive with Ron but saturday night was a bit too eventful... I was still drunk when I got up to leave.

Sat night I went to bed early for the event.

Now friday night I was up till 3am from drinking and the lumber yard. Still made the 9am Test and Tune though. Was rough but fun! 20+ runs!

I raced my Civic once two summers back but would love to get into this again with the Jetta. Any photos or videos from today's event?

Register if you "THINK" you may go. It's easier for the staff if you pre-register. There is no commitment. If you don't show they just throw your sheet out.

This event is one of the largest lots we hit. The track is nice and large and a great one to race.

Come on out!
