Just picked this up a couple minutes ago. Runs and drives good. Been sitting inside for the past 10 years but starts up great. Just going to fix it up a bit and have fun with it.

Got the body off yesterday and primed the floors. The floors are real solid, just minimal surface rust in a couple small areas. Today i went over it with black roll on truck bed liner so it should be real durable. Hopefully i will have this thing done for spring:tu:

NO! Not yellow! Must be awesome, bright pearlescent Blue, and you must play PUSA "Dune Buggy" really loudly whenever you go anywhere in it, and you must dress like a spider!

That is the coolest car EVER!!!

"A little blind spider took the wheel
Navigatin' grass blades completely by feel
Got a sassy chassis, sparkle in the sun
All four small bald fat tires rockin through the sand and burnin' up

Little dune buggy in the sand
Little blue dune buggy in my hand

Got a rubber-band motor hummin' on the beach, ready for fun
Quit spinnin' that web and come out and play in the sun
Eight thimble-sized cylinders, be as smooth as you please
Spider's bad-ass fat old abdomen stuck in the bucket seat

Little dune buggy in the sand
Little blue dune buggy in my hand

Squishy transmission was caught in drive
Spider man was squinting at the sand and the sky
Spider woman in the front seat, screamin' "Go, Go, Go!"
He's ridin' the accelerator down to the floor with his fuzzy little toe

Little dune buggy in the sand
Little blue dune buggy in my hand

Dune buggy!"

:D :D :D :D

Been working on running the wiring to the engine, tail section, and front section. Also got the wiring run for the steering column and all i have left is to wire up the gauges and radio. I painted the floor with truck bed roll-on bed liner also. Im not sure what i am goin to do with paint right now. I may just get everything together and running and drive it for awhile the way it is til i decide.

I also got a gm truck steering column today with tilt. I had to cut it down with the plasma cutter and mike tig welded the original section to the end to work with the steering box. Also welded up some brackets to support the column. The wiring harness i used already had the plugs for the ignition for a gm column so thats why i went with that. Here are the recent pics.

Those seats are fiberglass and just need covers. They are pretty popular for the dune buggies. I found new covers for $50.

I pulled the motor today because it had a few oil leaks. Wagenman is going to go thru it for me and make it sound. Can't wait to get it back in, should run awesome. I couldn't believe how easy it was to take this motor out. If i knew what i was doing i probably could have had it out in 20 minutes instead of 30.

So i got some 1/2 inch mdf board and cut some side panels for the interior and wrapped them in black vinyl to match the seat covers. I also cut the base and back panels for the small rear seat. Just have to get some padding and wrap those too. Also i ordered the paint last week. It is hot rod flatz diamond metallic blue.

Today i worked a few hours on it and put foam on the rear seats and covered them. Also put speakers in the front panels. Hopefully i can get most the body work done in a week or two and have it ready for paint by the end of the month.

It is going to be diamond blue metallic. I have a pic of the color on page 1. It is amazing how much better it looks even in primer, it was looking pretty ugly.

Sanded the filler primer down and here it is in sealer primer then the final coat of paint. I really liked how it turned out. Wagenman started taking the motor apart so he suggested i paint all the tin work on the motor so i am doing that this morning. I sandblasted all of it yesterday.

I got the headlights and taillights back in and working and the gauges are in except the speedometer. Also the radio is working and the door panels are installed along with the back seat.

i picked up this set of wheels from a guy in des moines. I posted an ad on craigslist for some 5 spoke cragars and this guy calls and says he has this brand new set of wheels that have been sitting for years. Said i could have them for $100:eek: which is a steal since they sell for $275 apiece online. DSV picked them up for me and my brother is bringing them back this weekend. I can't wait to see what the look like on the car. I also got a windshield in the buggy. Turns out it takes a fastback/squareback windshield. I found a used one for $100 shipped from dodgeville,wi. I will get updated pics soon.:tu:

You talking just about the center caps, or the spokes too?

I had to cut a little of the fiberglass so the front of the wheel would clear the body when i turn.

I bet, those tires are beefy. I meant paint the spokes. It would look so nice. Hey I know of a company that can make custom centercap stickers, any size with any graphic and colors all from a jpeg image, and it's only $35/set. If you wanted to get creative with the centercaps that is ;)
