Well this is the last update on my Audi as she's leaving me this weekend :( It's been great to me but I just lost interest I think. I picked it up because I didn't want to mod too much, keep it reliable (auto tranny doesn't like to hold that much torque) but that got old. This weekend I'm picking up a 1997 BMW 328i, manual, 119k, white exterior, real nice shape :hungry:
The new project should be fun. I've done a lot of research on them and have a few ideas on what I want to do, more than likely just a nice set of winter tires and some audio during the winter, then brakes/suspension/lightweight wheels, m50 manifold, exhaust, intake, chip/shark injector. I'll post pics as soon as I pick her up!

What color is the inside? Always a concern with white cars for me. I hate it when they put blue inside a white car. Anyway, sounds like you have a game plan...good idea when it comes to our hobby. Post up pics when you get it.

Tan/black dash, black wheel, tan seats. It's a meh color, I'd rather have all black but it's in near perfect condition so I'll be keeping it.

First update with the BMW -- I LOVE IT :) It pulls a bit harder than I thought it would. I've already had it through the switchbacks/Oak Creek Canyon and it handles very close to my Audi (which had aftermarket suspension+AWD) even with the stock suspension. A pretty nice perk I found out about was that the guy I got it from owns a detail and audio shop in Scottsdale, AZ so this thing is C-L-E-A-N and already has a bit of audio in it already (Alpine HU and 12disc changer). I crawled underneath the car and can't even find a drop of oil on any hoses/gaskets/etc. I had a lot of preventative maintenance in mind when picking up this car but all the diff fluids/microfilter/fuel filter/plugs/rotors/pads/etc have been replaced.. all I really want to do now is flush the power steering fluid, meaning more $ for mods ;)

Admit it... the best advantage is that you now have your balls back driving a manual :D

Looks great, Stefan! Can't wait to see the mods in the future :)

Wow thats amazingly clean. You definitly need to get yourself a set of DSIs or DSIIs. I think the DSIs look a little better because they have motorsports stamped into them but they only come in 17x7.5. DSIIs are what I have any I love em. More of a updated look even though there is no stamp. They come stock off a E36 M3 in 17x7.5 front and 17x8.5 rears, Id try to get a set of 8.5s all around, they've got a really nice lip on em for a stock wheel. And just because this is my first time getting to say this Fan Delete Mod FTW! I guess this gets really annoying on bf.c since it gets said all the time. Apparently deleting your fan will reduce some problems you could have in the futuer. Go with Turner Motorsports for you chip, their considered the best. Do that M50 manifold swap for sure, Ive seen the difference in size and its amazing. And finally go with suspention first and last. H&R preferably. BMWs arnt fast in a straight line (comparitively) and wont be unless you go the FI route. Keep us updated! Amazing car dude, its stunning.

^ I'm still trying to decide what kind of wheels I want to get but other OEM BMW wheels look killer on the e36. I had a white Eclipse before and did the whole white/black scheme so I'm wanting to do something different with this one. I've been on bf.c and yeah I've heard all about the FDM, what happens is the bearing on the fan is crap and can break, sending pieces of fan through the radiator -- I'll be getting rid of it soon :) Chips won't work on my year e36.. it changed in '96 I think with OBDII but the Jim Conforti "chip"/Shark Injector is just the same I've heard.

I've got lots of plans for it but not enough $, boo.

SDKmann
10-30-2007, 10:26 PM
Huh, Ive got a 96 and Im pretty sure Ive heard of other OBDII cars with chips, but the shark injectors good. Seriously though, get some DSIIs and paint the Nogaro Silver, it will look sick! Theres tons of little stuff you can do for cheap though, theres always parts you can swap over from the ///M cars.

the 3 looks great steffan!! great detail job too, that engine bay looks outstanding!

once you get used to a BMW inline-6 you won't really want to drive anything else -- the low end torque and the sounds they make will make you forget about the 1.8T in a hurry :D

OK, listen to your big brother on this one.... Save up and find yourself an M-power motor. Throw that in, supercharge it, and ship that old, crappy drivetrain you've got now out to, I don't know, my garage.

I wish :drive:

Psh, you dont need that. Go suspention first. Even a ///M engine wont turn it into a drag car, forced induction could get you close but still no cigar. Get some S52 cams, shark injector, CAI, exhaust, and mabye a few other little goodies and youll be set for the motor. I say you gotta do wheels first though, DSIIs FTW!

I'm gonna want winter tires for this season so I'll have to hold off on mods for a little while. I've been wanting to do what you listed, M3 cams, CAI, exhaust, shark injector, Sachs suspension, the brakes are brand new OEM so I'll let those stay for a while. Wheels will wait until spring/summer :) I like DS2s but there are a few others I'm looking at.
