View Full Version : My turbo Caravan

Some of you guys at the Dubuque GTG seemed kinda interested in my daily driver/winter vehicle so I figured I would post a couple pictures of it.

It's an 89 Dodge Caravan 2.5L turbo. I've done some small ignition modifications, added a FMIC from a Saab 900 turbo, just for fun added the Turbo XS RFL blow off valve (RFL stands for Really Freakin Loud), added a boost gauge and turned to boost up to 14PSI. Other then that everything else is factory and bone stock. Hope you guys enjoy.

so because its turbocharged, does it come with a compact disc (CD) player as a part of the package? :D

lol, nope and it doesn't even have a drivers side air bag either. I guess that's why my Saab is more luxurious then the ol' Caravan.

I can only imagine the surprised looks on all the peoples faces when you blow past em. I can also imagine people looking everywhere for a Evo or a STI whenever they hear that BOV only to see a van behind em.

Not sure how much HP it has. I ran it at 12 PSI with no intercooler about a year ago and it was getting 16.1 I've kicked up the boost, intercooled it and added an intake since so it should be somewhere in the high 15's now. The turbo needs a serious upgrade. I've got it at 14PSI now and the little Mitsu. turbo maxes out at 15PSI. It's an auto. It's EXTREMELY rare to find a factory manual turbo but it is actually pretty easy to convert it over to a manual if you have the right parts.

Just recently a guy on Turbo Mopar got the fastest recorded times for a turbo Caravan. He ran a 11.7 in it and is aiming for 10's next year. Here's a video of him running the 11.7. http://www.blackholehunter.com/Videos/Woodburn10-07/terry11.76.wmv

I'll try my hardest! I dunno if I will be able to do it nearly as good as yours was but I have faith in my torquey 2.5L.

Just make sure both tires are spinning or you will have what I had in January, a differential built into your clutch... :)

yup no LSD for me, I just get a 1 tire fire. :mad:
