Hey everyone! In light of the new season of Top Gear, 1fastB5 and I have been tossing around the idea of a TG GTG. I've volunteered to host it at my apartment, because I've got nearly every episode of the current format of the show (2002-present) on my computer, and a 97" projection screen on which to display it.

When:
Mondays at 8:00pm

Where:
MrFlippant's (David's) apartment
PM for directions!

Best bet for parking is on 3rd. St. or Locust St. next to Nolan Plaza - at that hour, metered parking is free. PM me for info on how to get into the building and which apartment I'm in!

monday night top gear? beats the hell out of monday night football :P but that sounds like a good idea. i think someone could make a list of a couple old episodes and we could choose 1 or 2, then watch the current one...which i just realized is exactly what was in the original post, but that sounds like an awesome idea.

i also have clarkson's DVD's as well, and the one-off summer specials between seasons -- winter olympics & arctic challenge :tu:

Alrighty; I work Monday until 7:00pm, so I think about 7:45-8:00pm would be a good time for people to show up. That'll give me time to get home and get everything set up.

I'm thinking about making some chili, and I'll probably get some Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, and beer. Any other food suggestions are welcome, as well as beer preferences (I'll probably get Newcastle and Boulevard Wheat).

I had a good time. The screen was amazing. I won't be able to watch anything on a regular TV ever again.....

Well, thanks everyone for coming! Sorry the new episode didn't work - hopefully next time we can avoid that problem. If we do this again next week, I'll make sure and have both new episodes ready to go. I'm glad everyone had a good time, anyway!

just an FYI -- top gear is off the air for next week for some special TV event on the same channel so they will be back the week following. although if anyone wants a screening of THIS weeks episode i could always bring my laptop down since i know it'll work on mine :rolleyes:

just an FYI -- top gear is off the air for next week for some special TV event on the same channel so they will be back the week following.

Yes, as Jeremy Clarkson put it, they're off the air next week because there's going to be "a lot of drunks in here playing billiards."

In other news, I want you all to know that I have successfully downloaded a different copy of Series 10, Episode 2, which WORKS! Due to this, I believe that the copy of the video file which I downloaded previously was corrupt, and therefore it was by no fault of mine or my computer that we were unable to watch it. :D

Also, in honor of Episode 2, I think we should all smoke pipes, rather than cigars, if we have a poker night. Porsche pipes.
