Junkyard GTG

DSV and I have been having fun digging through junk yards. Was just wondering what everyone thought about a Junkyard GTG. There are two yards you can walk through...one charges a buck to get in but is a realy nice set up. The other seemed to be just walk in and root around for free...but you got to battle weeds and such in some parts.

If you find a MKIII non-VR6 lip for me that you can snag for under $8-5 that would be sick. Something tells me I wont find it around here and I really dont want to risk getting raped by hobos or getting STDs from the mud by going and looking for one.

Ah come on you know its fun. I had to pull a blower fan out of a wrecked cavalier and the only way to the part was through the sunroof. Now that was fun.....oh and the person who had the car was a pig. Yeah for laying on fast food wrappers.

Im not saying that pulling parts isnt fun, it is. But even the one I go to that is pretty nice as far as junkyards go is sometimes scary. I swear I saw some guys selling a stolen crown vic there last time I went. On top of that the selection of BMWs and VWs is pretty slim.

What kind of car? You probably dont want one from a junkyard since it will have a salvage/rebuilt title.

i had a nice car that went to the junkyard it just dropped a tranny it was a 1990 ford mustang little bit rough paint but all electronics were good and the guy sold it for 200

As long as we do it before it gets cold. Wandering around a junkyard is not near as fun when your fingers hurt too bad to even think of pulling parts.

Theres also a Junk yard in newton me and one of my buddies went to. I'm not sure if theres any v dubs all we were lookin for were supras. All we found were dsm's :twisted:

if your reffering to the one just west of newton on the backroads its no longer there. my buddy owns it and he cleaned it out and crushed everything for scrap so he could start over slowly.

So does the 6th sound good to everyone? I say we start with Trails End since they close at noon.....something DSV and I found out when they allmost locked us in there. Then we can head out to Wrench and Go...they close at like 5pm I think on Saturdays. Sound good to everyone? Who all wants to go?

Funny you should mention that, we are doing another suspension install (on a MKIV this time) on the 6th....

I'm betting there won't be much for newer cars there. We saw a couple Mk3s, but I doubt there are any A6s there.

My friend was talking about how his friend found 2 newish subs in a box at a junkyard once. Dunno if its true but that would be awesome.

You would be surprised at what you find at the Junk yard. When a car is in a wreck and sent to the junk yard often times it is right from the scene of the accident.

I need to find out when they are opened...I imagine they open at 9am since they colse at noon. I have to go to my daughters soccer game at noon, she has pics at 12:15 and then the game is at 1pm...but it will be done by 2pm. I would say everyone meet in thier parking lot.
