Boost problems

alright guys i just notice that im losing power and believe its a boost leak. When i first got it chipped the power was great 1st - 3rd gear. now when im in 3rd gear i hear air leaking. Also sometimes when im in 1st and 2nd, i dont get the extra push i ususally do. Anyone wanna come for a ride with me to confirm this, this weekend. Also anyone around here have a VAC-COM that i can log my car with.

loccusst has a vag com... are you sure your losing power? I know when i drive my dub for a while i could swear its not as fast as it used to be, but then i drive my company car a couple days, get back in the dub and its fast as shit! lol

im pretty sure i lose power. If i turn off the car and switcht he program, i'll come back. I'm suppose to Boost from 2-4K and i can definately tell it doesnt kick in. (APR Stage 1)

i dont know if its a problem with the chip. If i hear an air leak, i think its not. I'm going to order a gauge soon. So freaking expensive though. $250 for the vent + gauge, or the Podi that sits in the steering column for about the same. I'll probably do the vent since its a cleaner look. God! this gauge is costing me more then my AWE exhaust.

yeah like 150 for us. or u can buy them cheap used on vortex. anyway!

u might have a broken diverter valve. if u still have the stock it might have finally went bad after the extra boost u get from the chip. the mkv's are having this problem already. so ur diverter valve might have just went bad and needs replaces. that would leak boost for sure.

umm i have replaced the DV with a GFB Stealth FX. Yeah the guages dont cost that much, its just the housings that holds them. I can get a used AWE vent boost gauge for $150 but the vent color is black and does not match my platinum interior.

Yeah, I have a vagcom. Let me know if you need to do some logging. It sounds like it's definitely a boost leek. Any week hoses or seals may have given when you did the chip. I haven't chipped mine because of the issues with the DV on the MKV.

green: i think your parts are pretty new so you got some time to break them :) my car is an 02 so it pretty much had 50,000 on it before i chipped it.

does the car stutter when you get off the gas or run rich during shifts? that would be a sign that all the air is not making it to the engine

also get a spray bottle with 50/50 water and dishsoap spray all of your piping connections and look for bubbles

if you can devise a plug for your intake pipe you can pressure test the system too but do the dishsoap first

also remember at the air temp we have right now your car will loose peformance due to the air being cold and very dry the more highly tuned the vehicle the more noticable this effect is.
