Saturday Night GTGs @ Rookies :: Sept. 1, 2007

That's right, it's time for more GTGs!

This is going to be our first GTG at Rookies Sports Bar & Grill here in Des Moines and if we get a good turnout it could lead into a once-or-twice-per-month regular event.

WHEN:
Saturday, September 1st, 2007

WHERE:
6151 Thornton Ave.
Des Moines, IA
(off of SW 63rd)

TIME:
6-10pm :: official PKG event
10pm-close :: just hang out and have fun


Member attendance will be monitored with wrist bands to help members identify each other and to show the owner (Mark Beeler) there is reason to help us keep this going!
A live DJ is a possibility down the road if we can get good turn outs!
We will have a large banner to post on SW 63rd to let any traffic know what is going on!
Mark will advertise our event on the radio (KGGO) in the week coming up to the GTG.

This makes me think back to the days of high school where local punk bands would be passing out show flyers in the hallways, lol.

But yes, we need to make this thing huge so that we can keep it going and expand. Mark (the owner) is really excited about this. :tu:

werd. And it would be good to get these out to the local dealers: Lithia VW/Audi, Lithia BMW/Mercedes, Ramsey Porsche, etc.

I'm hoping to see lots of new cars and faces at this GTG. Please do your part to help us recruit some new cars. If we can get a good turnout for this event it will only mean bigger and better things for PKG in the future. We are hoping to turn this into a monthly or even bi-weekly event as time goes on. :tu:

I went and had 75 copies of the flyer made today and was able to get one stuck up at Graham Tire on Merle Hay Rd. If people make it down to Jimmy's tonight I can pass out some copies for you to hang up and distribute. :tu:

We want as many people from the club as possible to make it out to this event. This will be a great awareness builder for PKG and we hope to draw in some new members as we continue it. Plus the food at Rookies is awesome. :tu:

thanks. Hopefully its fixed by the IC meet. I ordered a new Stage 3 clutch from driftmotion.com. One of my friends has a bell housing hes going to give me thank god lol and hopefully i can just turn my flywheel. its an aluminum one so i really dont wanna buy another.

Same here. We had a great turnout for our first event at Rookies with about 20 cars there throughout the night. The food was great, our waiter did well and it was awesome meeting several of the new people on PKG who had not yet been to an event.

Stay tuned for future Rookies GTGs, but for now you can comb through these pictures. Unfortunately my batteries went dead about halfway through and all the extra batteries I had were also junk :emo:

I thought it was good, but thought I would throw out the idea to have it around when Shawla is in town to show her some of our GTGs it is up to her through if she wants it this way and if it can be worked out to let us have it then. But thought it would be something to consider since she is make the long trip. :dunno:

This is true, but it also depends on what the schedule looks like for Rookies, for the rest of our members, etc., plus it will need to be on a Saturday night. We'll definitely take it into consideration though.

A couple of the staff need to get ahold of the owner and go over how our first event went. We do have some other ideas about upcoming GTGs, but Rookies is definitely still on our list. We'll let everybody know when we have more information. :tu:
