OK, I have 2 options:
1. Get rid of Corrado
2. Get rid of W8
Corrado '93, Red, photos on the board somewhere. Leather, New tires, 125k or there abouts. Really nice shape. SLC = VR6 Unmolested as far as I can tell.
Bad - Auto - I know, everyone here wants manual.
W8 - '04, 49750 miles, certified so I don't know if that means the certification transfers or not (VOA)? Sport model with 40% tint all round. TIP, otherwise, like all W8's, all bells and whistles except Nav. Silver/Black Leather. Oh yeah - 4 Winter tires on fake Audi Rims.
My preference is that we keep all. I can deal on either. Live in Waterloo and can show either. Will try and get photos of W8
Oh yeah - Both have Proj stickers!
Experimenting with BitPim. 2 phone pics - (Dark Day)

I like them both. But I would say get rid of W8, BUT only because Corrado is so rare to find. Sell W8 and get a new tranny for Cor.

I say drop the W8 in the Corrado, and I'll take the Passat shell for my big project. You get to downsize, but you end up with a monster AWD Corrado!!!

why not get rid of some of the older B5s? the corrado and the W8 are both pretty rare cars as far as vdubs are concerned -- and the W8 not only looks great but they're awsome even in snow :tu:
either way its a hard choice

Why the W8 and not the older passats? That's a hard one to justify, but I just seem to like the small turbo passats' better than the big engined one.
The turbo 1.8 with tip is slow off the line but kind of entertaining, somewhat light and nimble compared to the W8. (I'd love to put the W8 on a scale....heavy car!)
I've still got a few bikes that a brother store/keeps up for me. '74 & '74 Yamaha RD 350's. Older than most of you but always fun to pull some wheelies/stoppies and grinding the sides of your boots off in corners. Tried a Nina back in the '90's. Heavy (Fast!) - complicated.
Corrado - I love it. But my wife has never really liked it and even the boys like their passats (The old ones) better than the Corrado.
The nice thing is I owe nothing on either and insurance is minimal on both since I just do liability, insurance is a big rip off.. License on the W8 is kind of high but I'm kind of cheap....
I say keep the Corrado, sell the W8. You'll probably get more out of selling the W8 and the Corrado is a rarer car in my eyes.

Uh, No.
W8's suck in terms of resale. W8's were stickered around $40k new. When I bought mine about 2 years ago, it was worth almost $27k.
Now? Try $11k.
I figure as much as I'm in the hole with mine, I might as well keep it and buy another extended warranty when my other one expires next year. (Simply for the fact that I really don't feel like dropping $4k to have the engine pulled and have my timing chain replaced at 150k miles! But I'm sure I won't make it that far since I only have 71k on it right now.)

Wow! $11k seems low. Edmunds shows trade-in for mine at $19k I paid 23k for it over a year ago with 18k miles.
As far as the timing chain, etc. $1500 pales when you look at the Benz and other "tuneups". I watched Witham pull one to and it didn't seem like a huge undertaking, although they had done a few already.
Of course, then, if you have an Acura TL you can watch the local dealers "cut" some of the sheet metal away so they can change the cabin filter w/o taking your dash apart. These weird service issues abound everywhere.

That's why I might as well keep it and run the f*k out of it. I'm definitely looking into extending my warranty before it's up next October.
Sorry for the thread hijack! :(
