GTG July 3rd

Ok guys, we are going to host a 4th of July party on the 3rd since most every one will have the 4th off.
It will be at the nubwiz compound, in between Des Moines and Ankeny.
We will start at about 7:00 pm if we recomend camping if you are drinking. so bring a tent. It is a byob event.
Also bring a swim suit if you wanna swim.

Edit: After quite the discussion with DSV and Loccusst we have decided no fireworks would be in the best intrest of PKG as an organization.

Depending on how much mail we have, I'll most likely be working the 4th. The 1st week of the month is always busy... :( On a good day, we'll send out 450,000 pieces of mail, the first couple days of the month? Double that. :eek:

Im there!! I have about $30 in fireworks I got on sale so Its a bunch...if anyone else wants to get some boom booms for the night that would be coo! And depending on the time if onyone wants to go get some, some weekend I may join and go get more also.

No, it was actually sitting back in the trunk, and then under my rear seat cushion for a bit. I think after a few days in there it totally fried him though. I pulled the snake out with a VISE-GRIPS and he was all crispy, lol.

I have people in my neighborhood doing fireworks and trust me our houses are nice and close (I can almost touch my neighbors house laying down from my house) and I've never seen a cop around.

I see what you are saying but I don't think Chris is endorsing it, just saying if people want to do it they can but at their own risk, just like the speeding. We didn't want people to speed but it happened anyway.

^ I see what you're saying, but to me it just seems wrong. Also, for anyone new or thinking about coming to a GTG, I wouldn't want something like this to turn them away.

The other thing that bugs me is that even if we are saying, "If you want to do it you can at your own risk," we're still giving them the location and the property to do it on.

Like I said, I enjoy fireworks as much as the nexy guy, I just don't feel like it's right in this situation. Besides, is it even worth it to try and have a "homemade" fireworks show? There's no sense in a bunch of members draining hundreds of dollars and this stuff when it would be just as easy to go watch them in one of the several towns around with real displays.

^^ haha, I don't mean to trample on anyone's fun, todd, I'm just trying to think about the bigger picture. We could debate the "illegal fireworks" topic to death, but it could be even worse if someone were to get hurt because of them. I would hate for PKG to be responsible for something like that.

Mike is totally right on this one. PKG should not be associated with illegal activity. The club has grown to the point to where we need to start thinking more of what people perceive us as. Having a 4th of July party is cool but doing illegal fireworks is just not cool. I like fireworks as much as the next, but it is too much of a liability. As a club we just need to start thinking of what is ok to do at GTG's and what is not. Things that were cool before are not so now because it is not just a few friends hanging out. Jen and I won't be able to do this one either.

I can keep the fire works to a minimum if you would like...a few bottle rockets and small stuff and keep the big boomers for a later date. I would just hate for you, or any one who isnt comfortable, to miss out on a 4th party with the group b/c of this.

It was super sweet, strippers, booze, stuff going bang!!! Seriously though, it was a lot of fun, you all shoulda came. I was disappointed twice though, no Viggen to drool over, and I never got to drive the A4:drive: . Maybe next time. Thanks again to Cadwiz for the bed.
