20/30 Road Rally
06-16-2007, 12:09 PM
OK gang.... Let's make Road Rally 2007 YOUR event...
September 22, 2007 starting in Downtown Des Moines. We'll have hotel specials for both Friday & Saturday night.
We'll be having a PRE PARTY Friday night at TONIC in West Des Moines for everyone in town... they'll have their avenue blocked off for our CARS--a Friday night CAR SHOW in one of the hottest places in town.
Every 3rd Thursday of the month is our CRUISE INs at Jimmy's American Cafe in West Des Moines. Jimmy's pays us $5 for every person we bring in, so bring out the crowd. 100% of money goes back to charity.
We're giving $$ to the club that brings out the most vehicles for the Rally.
If you like the Thursday night CRUISE INs at Jimmy's, help us out. We could move these to EVERY Thursday night if we had the help.
MAKE THIS YOUR EVENT! Would love to see as many people out as possible.
Maybe we can put my '69 AMX up against one of you ;) (I think you'd school my '89 BMW 635CSI.)

In for the rally this year for sure. I've got a few people from Dubuque that will be participating, some of you guys should do it too. It'll be a blast, guarantee it!!!
Hey everyone - Had a great time at the cruise in last night!
Here is the GOOD NEWS! :D I spoke to Ryan about three days ago about the Road Rally and he offered us a discounted entry fee of $75! Well - It must of been the booze or something but last night I decided to hit Ryan up for something better!!! After a breif conversation between the two of us Ryan moved our entry fees from $75 to $60!!!
This is going to be a great time guys!!! If you need any help signing up contact me! admin@projektgerman.com
See you all there!:tu:

Oh, and I am in for the rally in Sept.
I would be down for this. Whats the entry fee get you?
Excellent Question!!! This is a BIG event!
$60 Entry fee (Discounted for Projekt German) per team, team is navigater and pilot! (do not need a navigator but is HIGHLY recommended. Trust me!) We do need ten total cars/teams to get this discounted price, I don't see any problems hitting this number, do you? :D Thirty bucks per person, 60 bucks per team... bring your wife... remember when she made you go to that baby shower? pay back time!:D
Gets you:
First drink free at Kick off party night before @ Tonic.
Free Admission into NPlay party night off (and drink specials), there will be live music and general population has $12 admission.
Top 3 Teams free entry next year
Neighborhood of $5k in total prizes available. (last year prizes included Richard Petty Driving School and Speedway tickets)
DVD of Event
T-Shirt
There will be mini competitions at each check point! After you are checked in your clock stops so feel free to relax!!!
Ryan has told me some things about the rally that are still in the works that are AWESOME!!!! You don't want to miss this. :golf:

Hey gang--Ryan from RR2007 here...
Just wanted to give you a couple of tidbits--can't remember what I've told you and what I haven't...
Rally is going to be pretty intense--350+ miles in one day, with 8 different checkpoints, and 40-60 miles between each checkpoint, 30-50 turns in each leg.
When you leave a checkpoint, you scan out with the checkpoint official, and you're on the clock. You only get the route and avg mph you must maintain--no time goal. When you get to the next checkpoint, you go off the clock by the checkpoint official. Watch your for secret checks throughout the leg (to insure no cheating). Once you get to the checkpoint, you're off the clock and can have fun. No revealing checkpoints yet, but we'll have different competitions for you to earn points. You're goal? Get as close to the avg mph as possible--thus getting as close to the posted official time as possible. We'll take your variance for each leg, add them all up, and the teams with the least variance at the end of the day are our winners....
This year's prizes are going to be bigger and badder than last year. Our checkpoints more intense.
All the money raised for this event goes to Des Moines area charities through the 20/30 Foundation. 20/30 has raised more than $35,000 in 2 years and given 100% back to the community in 30 grants. 100% volunteer--nobody's wasting your money! And we have a GREAT time doing these kind of events.
We have had an amazing response with sponsorships (if you want to sponsor, or know a business/person that would, let me know).... and my only challenge is getting AS MANY TEAMS signed up as possible... We have some national sponsorships this year, and they want to see teams. Can we get 50, 75, 100+ teams?
Fliers and posters are soon to come--help us distribute them... And yes, 60 buckaroos for you guys... You can't go to a Hawkeye game for that much!

THANKS BUNCE!
Thanks for filling us in with this extra information, Ryan. I think this will answer a lot of the questions that people had about the 20/30 Road Rally.

Yah... dumb thing is down--I'd tell you why but I'd be tapping my technical vocabulary and the right side of my brain my blow up.
I'll let you know when it's back up...
When it's up, you'll still need to register... but no worries now. Either bring your $$ to a Cruise In or you can pay online--but again, just hold tight for the website.
If you want to browse and find out more, you can go to myspace.com/roadrally.
Ryan @ Road Rally 2007
