I am looking for a cheap, no rust, running Cabrio for the wife. I want something from like 92 or earlier mostly because of the price and let's just face it they are tres sexy! I don't care the condition of the top or the interior because that will all be replaced or fixed anyway. The key is no rust and runs...well no body damage. So I need everyones help to find a car that I can fix up for the wife. I want to have this projekt be all for her. Thanks guys.

Damn! you're a month late. There was a white Mk.I Cabrio up here. Dirty inside, but good outside. I think a highschooler bought it (I know because I tagged it :D hehe ) but I'll ask arround. Maybe the seller just stored it out of view.

Most of the ones I have seen are on the east coast....rather strange. I would like to keep it under $1000....top and interior do not have to be great. Just NO RUST!! Thanks for looking out for us....I really want to get one for Jen and Jasmine to have. Jasmine starts driving this winter.

I'll check with one of the crew at work. He has 2 Cabrios (One works, one doesn't) I've never seen them so I'll see what he's got.

He is in Mason City, so not too far!

I got a triple white 88 Cabriolet I'll sell you. The top is bad, and the interior has definately seen better days. It runs pretty well, I drove it up from Des Moines last winter (to Clear Lake) and it's been sitting for the most part. I've had it out a couple times. It's an automatic (<--sorry). The exterior is pretty clean, it looks like it might have been resprayed. Has the clipper kit (missing part of the drivers side fender flare). Heater controls need some TLC unless you don't mind driving with heat in the summer...:)

Anyway, it was going to be a project for me, but I found a super clean 93 Collectors edition (Black with tan leather<---my favorite combo) for $2,700 about a month ago.

I've also got an '86 Cabriolet, but it's going to be project

$800 takes it home!

How is the rust on it and where is it right now? Oh...the wife wants to know what color is it? At this point I do not think she cares too much about color or automatic. This is going to be our first family project car. A pic would be cool.

Sorry man, I don't check this thing often.....I'll see if I can get some pics up later today....(I have to warn you, it hasn't been washed for a while)...As far as seeing it, I'll have to check my calendar, but we could work something out either some evening this week, or next weekend. It's only about 1:15 drive to my place from Waterloo/CF, 1:30 if you don't drive a dub:D

You can give me a call on my cell if you'd like

Loccusst & DerSubtileVento....it was a pleasure to meet you and your wives last night.

I'm assuming you made it home ok in the new cabby:D

Very happy to have caught you before you got too far so we could get those lugs tightened down before it became a three-wheeler!

Anyway, both my wife and I enjoyed your company and hope to see you guys again at a GTG soon.

Call if you need anything.....

We made it home fine last night. It was about 11:30ish by the time we finally rolled into town. Jen was driving about 60-65 the whole way back and all the fluids, temps, etc. were doing well. We ended up heading out to Wal-Mart late last night to get cleaner, oil, brake fluid, etc. Mike (Loccusst) had to work this morning but it sounded like Jen would be scrubbing the car all day today, lol.

I'm sure they'll be on here to thank you personally when they can. ;)

I just saw Jen out driving around in the SUV. First thought was why isn't she driving her new car, and now that I see this I hope she was out buying more cleaning products :D

I think they still need to fix the leaking rear wheel cylinder too, so she probably doesn't want to drive the Cabrio any more than she has to right now. Mike was talking about bringing it over to my house tonight for supper though so hopefully all will be well.

The car made it back fine. Jen spent Saturday Simple Greening the trunk and under the back seats. The dry wall mud came off the rear panels and off of the rear seats pretty well. The rear area of the car looks reallllllll clean. We drove it over to Mike and Stephs Saturday night for the GTG and the car was great....little vibration but alls good. It runs like it has racing motor mounts in it right now so I imagine the motor mounts are done....lol. We drove it home late at night and some how got the defrost to work somewhat which was good because the wipers didn't work and the humidity was making the windows fog up....the new thing we found out that happens when you leave the top down late at night.

Aaron was a really cool guy as was his wife. We look forward to seeing you at some of the GTG's. Couldn't of asked for a better individual to buy from. He went way out of his way to make sure the girls made it home safe and in one piece. Thanks again. Jen is on here now as POS VDUB, so she can bug you now Aaron...lol. We are going to keep the car white since the paint inside is amazingly in great shape. We striped out all of the carpet and sound deadening material tonight. Jen is going to clean up the floor area and then we will spray some of that underliner stuff in the foot area to protect the floor pan. Then some new sound deadening material. Then comes the new carpet! I fixed the wheel cylinder earlier Saturday...was an idiot and didn't realize that the drum doesn't come off the same as a disc, lol. Anyway, Mike tested out the brakes tonight when the light turned yellow and they seem to be as good as new. The kids love the car as does the rest of the crew here. Thanks a bunch Aaron!

No that is not rust on the floor.....it's nearly 20 years of dirt and grime!

Not sure why it didn't come through, did she put the right email address in? I went ahead and moved her over to a Registered User anyways. Let me know if there are any problems.
