Dubmodder (http://www.dubmodder.com) has always been a cool site in my book but now they are making users pay to have access. There is still a "demo" version of the site but it features only a few colors and even fewer options in terms of parts.

I guess it's all about business but after being a free site for such a long time I hate to see them go to a "pay only" version. :td: The reason they are/were so popular was because it was an easy way for people to mod cars without photochop skills. If it had been a pay-version site from the beginning I don't think they would have had nearly as much success.

Who would actually pay? everyone's just going to pay more attention to the "official photoshop threads"

Well the mk4 forum has one, I assume that all the other generations have them too...

Paying for a cartoon depiction of your car is lame although I too have enjoyed using that site. BOOOOO

I don't think they have enough options to move to a pay site. I liked the concept, but I wish it was a little more realistic. I guess from now on I will have to use my vivid imagination :finger: :finger:

I agree.

Plus it's just the fact that they built their reputation on being a free site and now they are asking everyone to pay to use it. They just need to hire some better salespeople and sell their advertising space. Or, invest a heck of a lot more money into the software itself and make it better/more realistic like you said. There are lots of common parts/upgrades that Dubmodder doesn't even have.
